I did that swap on my old hatch, and plan on doing my sedan here in the next few weeks. I just drilled out the Gvr4 hub to accept the CSM tie rod the correct way. So the hole in no longer tappered. I had absolutly NO bump steer. and it worked well.
Has anyone confirmed that this works?

I read this thread after installing GVR4 knuckles/hubs/brakes on my car, and the steering is horrible. I'm hoping to be able to mod the GVR4 setup to make it work correctly. If not, I guess I'll have to go with Expo knuckles and swap everything over.

My son just converted his GVR4 to 5-lug, so I have a set of VR4 knuckles. I'm going to try this for sure.

I would not recommend drilling out the taper. I cut the tie rod mount off, flipped it over and welded it back. Before all the cutting, i made a jig to make sure the tie rods end up in the same place, just upside down. Works perfect. Pictures are in my build thread.

The only knuckles that will work without inducing bump steer or doing something like redrilling the tapers are: Expo, Vista Wagon, and 4th gen CSMs. The 4G CSMs are 4x100 bolt pattern though. This has been discussed at length, in this thread even. Why people even consider screwing around with anything else is beyond me. Drilling the tapers through greatly reduces the surface area on the connection between the tire rod end and the knuckle. This will cause all of the stresses transferred between the two parts to be concentrated to a very small spot. Unless you inserted a new tapered section... Totally not worth the risk or the labor in my opinion.

I've worked with both 3G and 4G CSMs first hand and have pulled 4 sets of Expo/Vista knuckles for CSM projects.

OK, so I guess I'm going to get some Expo knuckles. Now, which Expo knuckles work? Or all they all the same? (awd/fwd, w/abs or w/o abs, 1.8/2.4, etc)

Checking caps....

You want the 92-96 wagons. AWD and 2WD are the same, ABS or not, doesn't change the geometry of the part.

My car now has Expo knuckles on it, and I can safely say the bump-steer has been eliminated. It drives really well now. The 2-piston calipers are a nice upgrade, too. The pedal feels a little mushy initially, but when you really apply some pressure to the pedal, they stop the car nicely.

Swapping in a 1" bore MC will help with the soft pedal. One from a na stealth/3000gt or Diamante should drop in.

I second that, I have a 92 elantra. I would love to run DSM dual piston brakes on my car.

How's this working out for ya? Any issues? I just hate to see these GVR4 knuckles with brand new bearings sitting here collecting dust. Was hoping they could be modified to work on a friends car.

It's working great. I have been running them for almost a year, and making almost 300whp since late November. I also modified a set for a customer almost 2 years ago and he was still happy with them the last time we spoke. If you want me to mod yours, just pm me. I still have the jig at the shop. Pics are on the first page of my build thread.
