I checked the pitifully small 4g15 Archives and found that there is no location guide/writeup for swapping ECU's, TB's, MAF's, or Injectors off the 4g37. These seem like the best/most common mods to do to the 4g15, besides exhaust, porting, and intake. So why aren't there writeups? I want to know everything about doing all the things mentioned!

well, all the forementioned items are "plug and play" by that i mean that if you remove the 4g15 items, the 4g37 items are direct swaps.

there are 4 screws that hold the TB on, and all the connectors are the same between the two.

the ECU is held in behind the "kick panel" plastic. (this is located on the passenger side, below and somewhat behind the dash) this plastic pice is held on by the door jamb plastic as well ass a plastic pin...

the fuel injectors are mainly held into the engine with 2 screws that hold down the fuel rail, you can swap over the rail and injectors, or just the injectors, after the screws are removed, the have rubber gaskets to keep them tight in the holes...

hope this helps

well, they dont call it the "kick panel" for nuthin'

go sit in the passenger seat. all the way.
kick your rightfoot directly to the right.
its that panel, the ECU is a shiny box behind it.

when I had the 4g37 ECU, I managed to tuck it behind the carpet, as it does not bolt into the factory location, it just plugs into the factory harness.

and the "screws" mentioned in the above post, are really 10mm and 12mm bolts. no biggie, just didn't want you holding a screwdriver when you went to unbolt everything.

It's there, under that plastic cover.
You'll have to remove plastic from the firewall, unscrew plastic that holds carpet and, as far as i can remember, remove that speaker cover to remove kick-panel plastic. 10 minutes job. You'll need cross screwdriver and something to push plastic holders. Don't push them too hard, they're pretty weak, and they'll break.

Wow now that is a detailed description. Maybe someone should go to his house and take it out for him. If you can't figure out where the ECU is you really shouldn't be messing with anything on the car. :D

Haha, thanks.

I'm a perfectionist, that's all there is too it. I'm sure me and my crew could just go in, rip everything in, plug the ECU in, and throw it all back together, but I like to do things right the first time.

Hehe, try not to rip everything apart, your car will make whole new range of annoying sounds if you do that. ;)

Everything is quite easy to dissasemble, just be careful with that little press-in plastic holders, don't force them. I learned that hard way.. ;)
