I was reading on an "alternate" forum and a guy had a 60mm TB from a 1g Talon and it works

Does the 60 mm TB need port matching to work with the 4G15? I understood it does.

From what I understand It doesn't but it will perform like crap unless you port match it...

If you have the 12 valve 4g15, The TB from any 1st gen laser/eclipse/talon 1.8l is identical except it 5mm larger! Even uses the same sensors.

Socrateez:
Ok I was researching the TB do you know what p/n that TB is? I see there are 3 different talon ones the later 2 (I'm sure more common) are MD160429 MD194561can you confirm it was one of these model #'s or do you know the year of talon you pulled it from then I would have a bit more of an idea. I also want to verify did you use the fuel rail from the Talon or did you port match your rail or did you leave well enough alone?

Any info on this would be great..

Thanks...

My TB is off a 91 talon 1.8sohc. Hyundai also uses it in elantras i believe. They don't have the word "Mikuni" on it and the vacuum layout is slightly different but not a problem.
I port matched the intake and TB as well as the head and runners. Definately worth it. :D
I'm using stock injectors and fuel rail, but am considering trying injectors from 1.8. Another post stated 182cc for stock and 210cc for the 1.8. Anyone know if this is correct?

That throttle body has different sensor layout and wiring. Best off with the one mentioned above as the sensors are the same.

Well that looks nothing like the proper fitting TB. Did you find a 4g37 DOHC or something to get the part from? You should have a 4g37 TB that looks the same without the little grey box. What car did you get this from as this may shed just as much light as the actual parts engine would?

I've never in my whole life seen such a strange grey box on a TB. What's that TB from? What size diameter does it have? Could you describe what sensors are on it and what wires and connectors are dangling around there? I mean connector shape, how many wires, what coulours, etc.
Maybe we can find out what that thing is from.

This TB is from '90 Mitsubishi Galant 1,8i Sohc, not Dohc!!! I saw the same TB on '90 Plymouth Laser 1,8i sohc 8-valve, the internal diameter of Tb -50mm ,the external -55mm.

Maybe the core is the same meaning the main aluminum casting? the ISC and idle stop circuit are probably the plastic housing we see. The connectors are just like the timing connector and 02 sensor wiring but most people have the push on connector with the little metal clip for retention purposes. I think he may be able to disassemble both throttle bodies - 1.5L and 1.8L alike and see what fits back onto the new throttle body. I believe much like the C10 seats bolting into my C50 chassis that the throttle body will be much the same casting.

Could you post up whether:
A) the TB has a Mikuni label or Mitsubishi label
B) any Mitsubishi part numbers # listed on the TB
c) any numbers listed on the grey plastic(?) housing on the side.

I think it is possible that c62_drive needs to backwards engineer the TB to accept the old sensor castings onto the new TB.
