What would everyone recomend for normal street / light stoplight to stoplight tire for the OZ Rally rims from a new Lancer? I want to try and not have to recalibrate my speedo with the new tires. I live in Arizona and they will never see snow so I just need tires that will hold up to the high heat of AZ :-p

I absolutely love my Goodyear F1 GS-D3. They are even cheaper now than when I picked them up. They are wearing really well for a performance tire and they stick like all heck!!!!! I can barely make them squeel in heavy bimmer! They are worth every penny they cost mroe than a Kumho or a Toyo.

Falken Azenis in 205/50R15 would work well. They have almost the grip of true R-compounds but they're totally streetable. No loss of stickyness from repeated heat cycling (aka daily driving), not too noisy (depends on the road surface), and they work decently in the wet. Ya, the ride is a little harsh, but that's the price you pay for being able to corner on three wheels and drive to work everyday without breaking out the torque wrench.

They don't last long though, don't expect more than 15 000 miles out of them. Less if you autocross or abuse them otherwise. That said mine have five or six autocross days and about 1000 street miles and they still have lots of tread, so I can't really comment first hand.

When they wear out, though - I'm buying another set!

I have those in 50's. Just about the right size to keep the speedo happy. With the 1G DSM tranny though they are way too short to keep the speedo inline. :)

Not too bad, but I want to sell them and pick up something more suited for auto-x being this isnt my daily driver.

195/50/15 bridgestone potenza s-03 pole position. spent the last two years selling tires, tried lots of stuff on my ride. hands-down for size, price, quality, performance, looks (gsd-3 is wicked tho...). on a 6.5" rim, the 205's were just too sloppy. excellent response and progressive characteristics-slides the rear just when i want it to, confidence inspiring grip. one of the absolute best tires that fit this car for real world driving. more grip would be nice, but it rains here. they are a little heavy, but i have NAILED some killer potholes in dc and my agx strut blew before my tires! maybe about $20 more than a cheap crap tire, but worth every penny. don't believe me? if you don't like them they give you back your money. and no, i don't work for these f*%&kers.
but i do love a good tire...

I had the Potenza Re-92's on an AWD DSM and thought they had too much sidewall flex so I was afraid to try the S03s even though they got good reviews. You said they were sloppy, do you mean flexy sidewalls like I am complaining about, or that they just kind of floated on the street too much???

Thanks,
Chris

sloppy in terms of what tire width to use in relation to rim width. tire that is similar in width to rim provides squarer shoulder and sidewall will be more stiff. wider tire would be nice too, but my rims are 6.5"w. and w/ no power steering, skinny=less effort. but no so skinny that it doesn't stick though. i would probably buy the bfg kd's (so nice and progressive), but i still haul ass in the rain and stop quickly way too much for my own good. and they don't make it in 195's (yet). they are (michelin, bfg) expanding to add a shatload of new sizes like 225/30/20! i damn sure better see a colt w/ some 20's, cuz the hondas will be out bending rims like crazy hehe rims that cost more than the car, hmmm... well anyway i had probs w/ my rear kyb agx struts cutting into the sidewall of my tires w/ 205's, the 195's keep it to a minimum. i guess i should cut some of the cuff off the body of the strut but i spend all day dealing w/ other peoples cars and some times i just don't care. or i'm lazy. whatever. oh yeah re92 is a huge turd in terms of being a tire. noisy if not well maintained, wears out too quick, overpriced the point is bridgestone sucks (firestone too) except for a few of the high-end truck and performance tires. and they are the tires that blew out on all those Fords (parent company as well, reknowned for mass safety recalls annually). there are a few good tires that they produce, but not a lot.
