Does anyone know what Hyundis came with the F5M21 tranny? IT is a 5 speed cable clutch out of my 93 colt.

Earlier Sonatas I think, and maybe 93-96 Elantra.

I'm not 100% clear on all the tranny codes though, so I could be mistaken.

Hyundai never used the F?M?? series of trannies from what I know. They only ever used the KM??? series of trans before they started doing their own thing.

F5M21 is a 4g15 colt tranny. I would tend to think thats an circa 92 Excel would have that... although I could be wrong...

I have a 5 spd in my 91 4G15 but it has a hydraulic clutch, though 89 & earlier Excels have a cable actuated clutch.

Is there anywhere on this board or on the web that has a comprehensive list of tranny codes? I have searched and come up with some info but its not complete.

Search! The codes are all mostly there.

The 90-93 Excel X2 uses the KM200 (4-speed) and KM201 (5-speed). The 86-89 Excel X1 used the KM161 (4-speed) or KM162 (5-speed). The KM20x trans can come with either hydraullic or cable clutch.

91-92 Scoupes have the same tranny as my Excel. According to xlr8's info as stated above, this is the KM201.

So what is the difference between F5M21and the KM201? I seen them both, they looked identical, and I thought they have the same ratios.

DIfferential Size id the difference. KM have big fat ones. Well, here is what I am gonna do. Im grabing a F4M21 out of an 89. WHy is this a problem? Because the cradle is mounted under the motor, while mine is under the tranny. Solution: Grab the engine cradle, bolt it up and weld it to my frame. This way, I coull pretty much use any tranny I want.
