After many hours of searching I'm at a fork in the road. Ok, if I'm not mistaken, the stock lug pattern on a 1991 Japan-made Dodge Colt non-turbo is 4x114.3. Is that correct?
Why does EVERYWHERE I ask for replacement rotors list the rotor bolt pattern at 4x104? Am I wrong or are they?
If it makes any bit of difference I own a Japan-made Colt, Don't know if there was a difference in lug patterns between the various types of CSMs. I've also had one hell of a time finding replacement brake pads. Most places I've gotten replacements from give me brake pads with the same general shape as my original pads, but are about a 1/4 inch too long to fit into my calipers. I've had to order a sets of Axxis Organic pads that are horrid at stopping me, along with terrible brake dust as they are the only pads I've found that fit. And I've gone to over a dozen auto parts store from the local autozone and advanced autos to mom and pop import part shops. Worst part is, the place I get the from list multiple brake pads that as supposed to all fit, but the Axxis brand is noticeably smaller in length than all the others.
If anyone can clear up any confusion here that'd be awesome, cause as of right now I'm carless because my gorgeous Colt can't stop. :/
I had the same problem for weeks and it was do to the 91's having a blend of parts from 89 90 91 and 92 colts. The perfect fit for my 91 summit front pads were a MKD535. That number is used by various manufacturers. My autozone and advance always said my car took the MKD299 which were short by a 1/4 of an inch or so.. It was trial and error for me with the pads. My pads are under a 92 colt and the bracket and caliper slider pins are under a 93 colt. I had one of the smaller diameter sliders seize and snap off so that how I found out.. Of the two slider pins per caliper, one has a smaller diameter and both have the threads just under the head versus and the end of the bolt near the end. I saw that the 1g dsm's use the same set up. Hope this helps. Get pads for the 92 colt which are the 535's.
