I searched through here and only found a couple threads that were close to what I am looking for, I know this has been talked about, time and time again, but here I go asking:(

I want non captured rotors, 5 lug and bigger brakes that will still fit in a 15in wheel. I have gvr4 complete knuckles with hub and bearing and rotor. But I am now wanting to go to larger brakes for the trap speeds and crappy wheel bearing design and price! Just doing it in the front because I will be going through wheel bearing more quickly with the new wheels I will be installing on it soon. I am planning on running 25x10.5 slicks or something close to that size, so I need to make fender room which I am working on doing without putting some sick ass bushwacker fender flares on it;) :supz: So to do so I will be running a nice big offset and width wheel, thus the wheel bearing load will be greatly increased.

What are all the options? I know the Expo knuckles, DSM knuckles, etc... But I want the least amount of headache and machining. With the dsm knuckles you just need to remachine the tierod end of the knuckle to the other side right? then I could run the DSM hub, bearing, knuckles and what not.

92-95 expo knuckles, 1g 5 lug dsm hubs, 93+awd dsm 276mm front rotors, twin piston calipers. This will barely clear a 15" wheel.

These will actually still use the same 1 piece sealed wheel bearing that your current GVR4 knuckles use, not sure why you call that a crappy design.

Keep in mind GVR4 calipers are hefty pieces of cast iron. If you can afford to do so you should look into Wilwood, Project u or whatever other lightweight caliper you can find.

Whoops, I mean I have the stock GT brakes. Have the gvr4 at home because I wanted to put them on originally.

What are the pros and cons between them all?

The DSM aren't captured though are they??

The stock GT brakes are lighter than GVR4 brakes but will not perform anywhere near as well. If you are currently using the base model brakes then upgrading to the GT brakes with a non-captive spindle will stop better and weigh right around where you were with the captive bits.

If you ream out the tie rod end hole on the GVR4 or DSM knuckles so that you can flip the tie rod end around I'm pretty sure this makes them pretty much the same as the expo knuckles.

The dsm hubs are not captive, they provide a smooth mounting surface for the rotor/wheel.

Ok thanks! So don't one of those cause extreme negative camber? Is this able to compensate thre lough camber plates?

So the Expo ones dont need to be machined to fit the tie rod?

I want the least amount of machining and fabricating. I will buy the camber plates no problem.

Thanks!

Tie rods fit the expo knuckles perfectly. You will need to slot the upper holes on the struts though to get some camber adjustment. Look in the archives for Coltsfan's writeup. He hs detailed pics and everything.

Probably not. Reaming out the mounts on the struts is so easy and free.

AHHH I see. I don't think they will offset the change in camber enough. But if you try it and it does work you will be a CSM hero.

is the Expo 5 lug?

I also need the larger brakes which is why the dsm is attractive...
