I hate to say but the 4g61 and the 4g67 head are the same part number so there is no diffrents in the heads, I looked into it a few years ago and spoke to mitsubishi.
I think you guys in Europe got a slightly different 4g67 head. Out here, the 4g67 heads all had the larger intake ports like a 1st-Gen 4g63 head. There are those rare cases where people buy JDM 4g61t's and the head says "1.8" on the side, but has the small intake ports on it still. There are a few threads on here dealing with this I think. People put the 4g67 head on the 4g63 bottom-end because the 4g67 has a slightly smaller combustion chamber which bumps up the compression a tad. I'm not sure if this would have any effect on a 4g61 bottom-end, and you'd have to swap over your intake manifold to one from a 1st-Gen DSM because of the larger intake ports. It's not really worth it.
Interesting, I know the only diffrents between the two engines in euroupe is that the 4g67 has a smaller bore and a longer stroke than a 4g61.
I was wondering what would happen if I bored out a 4g67 to a 4g61 size then used the 4g61 pistons in a 4g67 block crank and conrods??
That would be a interesting mix?
