I had one the same color as yours. LOVED it. Went everywhere I pointed it and was a stoplight terror bone stock. I am curious if the gearing is different in these because of the added weight and larger motor than anything else with a W5M33.

The gear ratios are the same as DSMs. And weight is about 100lbs lighter than a 1G and almost 200 lbs lighter than a 2G DSM.

im pretty sure they are lighter then that. When i weighed my awd wagon WITH the 4g63 in it and 5-speed (minus passenger seat and rear folding seat it weighed in at 2750 without me in it and a 3/4 tank of gas.

Im pretty sure a 1g dsm is around 3200 lbs.

I have heard many reports that they are "around 2700lbs". I think that is the fugure for a much more common, FWD model.

When I weighed my Summit at a race track and it came to ~3050lbs (w/all seats, half a tank of fuel). 1G with similar gas load will be around ~80lbs more.

In race trim (no spare/jack and ~3 gal of fuel), 1Gs run 3050lbs.

My summit is loosing some weight: AC, front bumper and smaller bat. But it will be offset by turbo, IC, plumbing and bigger brakes :(

See man I want my car to be comfortable first and fast second. I totally understand that less is more but if I have a car it's GOT to be comfortable AND fast.

ahh

yeah maybe that number is true..

I forgot that when i weighed mine at the track it had a lightweight race battery... removed A/C, removed power steering, No spare or bracket, no jack..no passenger seat, no rear seat 14" steelies off my 89 colt GT.... so i guess that would get it into the 2750 lb area what i weighed in at...

This is kinda stupid but i thought i would post this up- g tech results!!!!

This is a bone stock van with back seat and spare removed for testing, it has no cat and k&n filter

0-60 8.7 seconds????!!!!!!!!
1-4 mile 16.98@ 80 mph!!!!!!!

I thought this thing was fast but this is insane. Not even being sarcatic here this thing is quick!!! This is the fastest n.a vehicle i have ever tested! It beats my 93 elantra and beats my old 99 accent and this is a van it should by all means be slow as molasses.

This thing is already faster than many 80's japanese sports cars!!
I'm thinking you may have told the g-tech it weighs more than it does. I doubt it s a sub 10 second 0-60 and sub 17 1/4 car.
According to some online info whether to be trusted or not who knows but, top speed is 104 mph 0-60 in 12.5 and the 1/4 in 18.8 (automobile-catalogue.com)

You do not need weight to calculate 0-60 and 1/4 mule ET. You only need it for hp calculations.;)

Having driven my Summit for two years, I find those numbers reasonable! It a nimble little van (especially with EVO8 syspention ;)). Most stats that you see for these vans are for 1.8l FWD models, which were much more common.

You need weight to calculate 0-60 and 1/4 mile ET when you know the power production of a vehicle. To calculate power production you need to know the 0-60 and 1/4 mile ET. You cannot simply produce a calculation of performance without some of the variables being known. Weight is the biggest significant factor on performance of a vehicle besides power production. You can have a 300hp car that weighs a whole lot that simply does not perform well in acceleration or cornering.

yeah doesn't g-tech use accelerometer data to estimate times? i didn't know you had to put in the wieght to use it.

Correct, it figures the performance through accelerometer, but if you want to estimate the power, you will need to input the weight.

Haha yeah weight doesnt mean anything for the gtech. It is for hp claculation but not for times. I'm feeling kinda bad my thread is right at the top of the build section, but no build is going on. I dont know what to do. It uses about 1/2 liter of oil every 600 kms but runs fantastic. I try to beat on it pretty good, i havent plugged it in all winter, -30 starts are common. When i leave work ill start it up cold -30 and just beat on it with no warmup whatsoever. I figure i might as well get my use out of it before i turbo it. Ive got a good 91 4g63t sitting in the corner of my shop, and thats exactly why the thing will last forever. Ill probably get it in an accident or something.

I busted 180k (111mph) according to the speedo so who knows how accurate, my tires are bigger than stock, so if anything it should be reading low.
It has no cat and k an n filter and it was a -20 day, maybe the cold air helped?

well i noticed a slight gear oil leak yesterday so i pulled her into the shop and had a look. Same leak i thought i fixed when i first got it. See the last owner hit something with it, the tranny hit a rock/curb i mean, thats why the tranny is shot. Anyways because of the leak i decided to replace the tranny oil. WOW the oil is silver!! It looks like 50/50 oil/aluminum mix. No big chunks just a really fine film. I bet its just carnage in there. Something must be bent out of whack. i replaced the oil when i first got the van and it was mint. But the last owner had just replaced it. He didnt tell me why the tranny was shot he just told me it was shot.

So i guess im going to start the build soon. My wife will be all choked that my van is out of commission. After the first family outing she was hooked. Its her first choice now. Its funny how hard it was to get her to ride in it the first time, took me a couple weeks, now anytime we all go out we take the van. (her car is 08 lancer you dont look like welfare case driving that hehe)

I just havent decided yet if i want to use the housing and just replace all the internals, or if i should just scrap the whole works and make custom mounts so i can run a 1g trans, or if i should look for another 2g awd case. decisions decisions. Keep in mind i have about 6 or 7 1g awd boxes under my workbench. It would probably take me 1 days work to make my own mounts.

I guess first thing is to get that tranny apart and see maybe it can be rebuilt. I am also wondering if its possible to make a hybrid out of 1g and 2g trans. Use my 2g bellhousing and everything else i can use ig stuff.... The bellhousing is where the mounts are anyways.
