Can you do it cheap and easy like this?
stock csm front spindles
slip floating gvr4 rotor over like galant
use diamate calipers with 6mm (1/4") steel plate spacers to move caliper out
15" or larger wheel

This way you don't have to mess with notching hub or swapping out other parts.

There is a write-up in the archives explaining this method. I think you have to slightly grind the csm hub so that the GVR4 rotor will slip over it. Plus you will still have to remove the hub because the stock rotor sits behind it.

You will also need to make spacers to mount the caliper brackets outward a little bit.

t04garrett has a brake post here that uses the non-captive larger rotors setups. Check that. 8)

5-lug hubs... do they bolt in to these knuckles? Are the bearings the same diameter where it goes through the knuckle?

Okay so 4 hours later I had found and pulled a set from a FWD Eagle Summit wagon for $75 because I couldn't pull one $27 half-shaft that I didn't need from the hub. I'm going to see if these pressed-in bearings are interchangeable. I hope these work for a 5-lug setup because eliminating bump-steer seems like a good thing to do with the amount of power I'll be making in such a lightweight car.

The AWD 1G DSM bearings press right in to the Expo uprights. Take a look back in this thread and Dayo has some nice vids showing the difference the Expo hubs make vs. the DSM/GVR-4 uprights.

I can't believe last night was the first I'd heard of this and I already have the expo parts. I can't believe they were this easy to find. I have to replace both of the AWD bearings anyway, and my cousin has a bearing press, so this is super convenient for me. But srsly, my Colt's front end has 5-6" of wheel gap with the AWD front springs and knuckles. Not sure if this will do anything about that at all. If not I'm doing coilovers.

I'm checkin' out those videos right now. Thanks PPL!

The expo knuckles are actually a little taller to accomodate the bigger bearings, so you gain about 1/2" of ride height. I don't mind it beacuse I'm fully loaded with A/C, P/S , copper radiator, AWD, emissions crap... but if you have a light car the Colt springs fit too. Just way too soft for my setup.

I don't understand everthing becouse of my english her my questions (sorry):
I've got the big brake from a Galant E39 /GVR4.
I took the complete knuckel also from GVR4.
My Problem: the track rod ends have to turn 180 degress to get in the GVR4 knuckels, but this don't work, I never get I good track.
also the camber is to positiv.
So it dosn't work.

With the Expo knuckels I don't will have the problems?

Use the search fonction here !
Or give me ( for free ) your GVR4 setup

For the camber issue you need camber plate or re-drill your struts with the good camber degrees.
Dont use Camber bolt ( Tonus dont like this ) !!!

I unsterstood, I can use the expo knuckels. I only have to drill the top hole of the struts to get right chamber, right?

Get the big brake calibers in germany isn't a prolem. I've took they from a Mitsubishi sigma, the are the same like GVR4.

Yes that's right, the Expo knuckles will throw off the camber, but actually reduce bump steer compared to the original knuckles. You can correct this with camber plates, or by notching out the top hole in the strut.

Peppi, if you drill out the taper in the ends, you can mount the tie rod the correct way. Also, the vr4 setup gives you positive camber so you need to use camber plates to adjust them back.

Ok!
I don't wan't to drill out the taper, I will took the Expo knuckles.

I think in Germany, there are now camber plates to buy for the csm, in any case no authorized to drive in Germany.
So I also could buy it in USA.

Perhaps you have a good suggestion for me, which camber plates you would buy.
K-Sport?
