I need the motor specs of the 4g61 that is in the 3g mirage turbo. mine just messed up 2 pistons because the previous guy did a 20 head swap incorrectly. and I am researching my re-build

crank stroke?
rod length?
block height?
compression height?

id prefer some credible information, because ive searched everywhere and id like something a little more reputable than wikipedia

I am not sure if anyone would really know what the measurements are that precise. You could always assemble another one and clay the piston tops, rotate it by hand and remove the head and measure the clay thickness to see how much clearance there is. Kind of a p.i.t.a. though.

the link you gave lists the block height as 284 mm (pg 145) is that the same as deck height? is so that doesnt make sense because the 63 is 229 mm and is bigger than the 4g61.

Yes. The rods are the same between 4g61 and 4g63

so are the piston heights different? the internet claims that the block is 6 mm shorter. so the piston should be .5mm taller to make up the difference. unless the block is only 5.5mm shorter, or the pistons are different heights/thicknesses/rod pin

call AWEP and tell him you have a 1989 Dodge Colt GT or Mitsubishi Mirage GT, with the 1.6 DOHC 4g61 turbo motor, and you need 2 pistons.

I used to work for him, the guy has got 100's of engine catalogs from the 70's on up. If he can't find the part he can usually tell you what you need.

The stroke is way shorter on the 4g61. 75mm vs. 88mm on the 4g63.

i mean im really tryin to not get disrespectful but you guys are so far off. this site never seems to get any good response, its like if you have a question that isnt easy to find, therefor worth posting about. it just gets ignored and other question get answered. if you dont know then dont answer, dont give me some BS that i already know, or dont care about because i didnt ask.

I asked if anyone knows the specs on the motor if not then dont fill up the thread with useless unrelated info. I didnt ask where to buy pistons did I?

and yes the strokes are different. 88/2=44 75/2= 37.5 44-37.5= 6.5 and the block is supposed to be 6 mm shorter which gives you that .5mm I was talking about

I hate to sound like an ass too but your first post didn't really state how detailed your answer needed to be. Therefor I posted info from the manual which the dealer goes by. This site has been more then helpful for myself at times when I needed it, I am sure I am not the only one.

Just think, if we didn't start putting up the info we know (which may or may not help you) and no one answered your post then wouldn't you be wondering why nobody has offered some help or guidance.
