i find a really nice set of wheels. dimensions are 15x6.5 with a 38 offset. my question is will they work on my 89 colt.

As long as they have a 4x114.3 bolt pattern they will fit on your car.

I thought the car needed a 40mm offset?

38 probably isnt that big of a deal i take it?

You don't NEED a 40mm offset. 38mm would be a difference of 2mm's, so no, not a big deal. :wink:
