now making a bumper fit is going to be tricky! The car is also going to be setup for speed density so you can see the AIT bung in the throttle body elbow =X

Looking good man! You have it ready for winter, or do you have to keep it in the garage?

Why'd you get such a huge FMIC? This is an issue I see with a lot of CSM's on here, they buy the biggest Chinabay FMIC they can find and then they realize that there's no room inside the bumper cover for such a huge FMIC, so they either end up driving around with no front bumper, hacking their existing bumper to the point that it is un-recognizable, or compomising by putting a bumper from a different car on there. To really pull it off you need a totally custom installation with a lot more fab work, and you need to mount the intercooler at an angle. If you do use a 1g bumper, try to find a '90-91 Laser bumper or a '90 Eclipse non-turbo/GS-T bumper. 1g AWD front bumpers just look terrible on our cars.

I'm goin to make something work =) I work for ETS (Extreme Turbo Systems) This isn't a china intercooler, it's one we fab up in house. The internal fins are staggered, same with the external fins. If you buy an intercooler off ebay the fins are straight through. Anyways. I'm going to make something work. I need to put a big intercooler on the vehicle for the big turbo setup going on. Why would I need to put the intercooler at an angle, if i'm at the further point right now? The bottom is as far back as it can go. I'm going to try to make the summit bumper fit without the crash beam.

Worst case.. I will change the intercooler design.

^^Ben's FMIC setup is by far the best I've ever seen in a CSM. If everyone did their's this way, these cars would be able to retain their factory looks and still have a decent intercooler setup. If you want to try to run the Summit bumper, you will literally have to take everything out of the front and make the bumper cover an empty shell.

It'll fit fine once you cut the support beam.

Yep. Evo V to be exact. Even used holes that were already there to mount it.

Is that the beam that holds up the latch?

I did cut out the three little supports by the latch but in hindsight, it's not necessary to fit the evo intercooler. I was referring to the support beam inside the bumper itself. It does compromise the safety of the car as you're taking out a major piece of the front impact zone. Anyone with a welder and more time could leave it partially intact while still having enough room. The end parts of the support (that bolt to the car itself, bolts for the bumper are behind the marker lights btw) are still there on my car. On the picture, the red bar is where the bumper support is inside the bumper cover, the blue part is what you have to cut out to fit any kind of a large intercooler.

**In my opinion**, in any kind of major crash in this small of a car combined with the speeds we take them to (who else is a member of the 150 club), that little piece of bumper isn't going to matter in the end run. If you run into a lot of things with the front of your car, don't do this.

This is also my way that I did it, I'm not recommending anyone doing it the same way, I'm presenting it as another option. I take no responsibility for anyone that hacks out their bumper and then promptly runs headon into a tree.

Nice! My Garrett core FMIC was custom made by ETS to fit right in my support beams without hacking them or my front bumper! And it is 4" thick. 8) I recommend them for making a custom FMIC for a CSM. Good luck with it, and show us some pics with the bumper on. :D
