i Replyed to the thread on the ECU im buying, but i'll just tell you here

You mentioned my stock ecu might be beyond repair?
Well my car still starts and drives still, but being that its getting worse i shouldnt even bother dealing with it huh?

So the new caps im getting,I should just get them installed in the new ECU im getting as well?
Just to be on the safe side huh?

All caps that haven't been changed WILL leak, it's just a matter of time. Any ECU I get, unless I know the caps have been changed, I have them changed--it's cheap insurance to know that your ECU will be ok. Your current ECU probably has holes in the board from the caps leaking all over it, so it's done, even if the car still starts and drives sometimes.

If you dont have any soldering experience, or havent replaced capacitors before, I wouldnt recommend you trying this on your own, when the caps start leaking, the pads can get tore up pretty easily taking the old caps out, unless you know what your doing. Like tonus said, your gonna want to replace those caps in that new ecu your getting, the capacitors they put in these ecus should all be changed over. If you cant find anyone local to replace those caps for you, I will do it dirt cheap. Also your ecu thats failing is probably still salvagable, I havent worked on one yet that wasnt salvagable, so dont toss it just yet, I would like to take a look at it for you and try to fix it, if you dont mind paying just shipping, its kinda a hobby of mine.

Alright i know im going to put my Self on Blast when i show/tell you guys about this.
But i dont think this Stock Ecu is for my car :( Even the caps Im getting off ebay Dont look this little.

The reason why i mentioned it was Leaking because when i opend the ecu Below the Cap area(center of the ecu) was Brown Like Circut Burnt type/Not Green Like/And little Shavings evvvvverywhere!!!

But now that im buying this New Ecu,I decided to Re open Again and compare!
This ECU looks nothing like the one im buying off Member TrevTec
My stock ECU caps are Tiny! and high in the Air,The middle of the ECU is Brown and looks Burnt!

So i took the ECU out of the Casing, and fliped it over,The Chip areas are Brown and burnt!

(sorry my camera isnt so perfect!)

If the board matches the case, you have this part #:

MD128615 1989 Colt DOHC FWD TURBO E2T34375 Federal

Those caps look to have been changed and that is why you have that VOID sticker on the casing. Please make sure to take out all the screws and or replace the one that is wedged back on the top left corner in that picture. Those traces still look okay, but talk to your caps replacement guy and see what he says. A better picture would say more than the picture that is only giving us a mere snip-it at what has happened.

The caps are not large, usually the pictures make them look larger than they are. It doesn't really matter if there's a size difference, the caps will still work.

is that the ecu out of your car? those caps have been replaced, it may not be a ecu problem, the mpi relay might be going bad, but ive never really heard of that happening, I guess youll find out when you put the new ecu in.

IF..IF the mpi Relay is going bad/Or is not bad,I'd still like to change it to be on the safe side.

So where Can i buy a MPI relay guys?
Can anyone show me a picture of where its located?

Mpi controls the fuel/injector?

Wait,Would a MPI relay cause my car to shut off the engine,Or would it cause my ENTIRE car to shut down meaning lights and all? Because what i noticed was that sometimes it Shuts off the car,Meaning no lights,Wouldnt an MPI relay Only Control the fuel management and Nothing to do with my Entire Car,lights, shut off etc..?

Is this the mpi Relay? ^^^^^

I need you guys to school me brothers!
I know about Cars, but not Suppper crazy.
All i know is that it would be cool to Change my ECU to a rebuilt one(better safe then sorry)
And Now to Replace the MPI relay (better safe then sorry)
Is there any other fuses/relay i should check?

In my experience, they either work or they don't work. There's no "going bad", but I guess it's possible. It is also possible to have a bad ECU without having leaky caps. I was running an ECU for a while that would do exactly what you're describing and the caps looked perfect. Car would barely run, and there would be tons of clicking from inside the dash. The clicking you're hearing is the MPI relay turning on and off, I beleive it's the relay that controls the power of the ECU.

You have to buy it from Mitsubishi, or go to a junkyard and find one. I don't know if the turbo ones are different.

It's way down inside the dash, you'd pretty much have to take everything apart to get to it.

That relay has nothing to do with the rest of your electrical system. Lights work regardless of the ECU. That's probably a totally different issue probably related to your battery terminals.
