I also forgot to add, that I made a pedal stop today. With no carpet, floor or firewall sound deadener left in the car, the clutch was over extending about an inch to the floor. So I whipped on up with a local fab shop. They told me to just grab some scrap and we woul make something. It is 3.5"Lx1.75"Wx1' thick. I massaged a small spot on the firewall so it was as flat as I could get. A small clutch adjustment and all is good. Dare I say shift better than before. No more scratch in third. Just second.

After doing this, I HIGHLY recommend that everyone use a pedal stpo for their clutch. I know it is highly looked upon with twin discs, but it worked very well for my single plate clutch.

Also another side note. Subarus taste good for dinner too. I ran across an asshole in a late 90's early millenium Impreza RS. It sounds quieter than most 2.5RS's I have heard with exhuast. And had a little pep. But the dude was trying to show off for his woman and make the terd car that sounds like a fart can I guess look bad.

Well I had to provoke him a little after driving like such an ass. I told him through his girlfriend's window that I hope he doesn't think his car was fast. Big mistake. She got all pissed off and said it was her car. So he really had to be the bigger man and show me up. We hit it a few times each time giving him an edge. Needless to say he was so far back it appeared as if he blended into traffic. They were in a lighter mood at the next light. I had got the car into fourth gear on the last run and really got out in front. They asked what was done. I told them a 16g and not a whole lot else. I asked if they had a WRX swap or not. They tried to tell me it was stock with an intake. I am pretty sure when I gave him the hit I heard a little 13g in there and a stock WRX BOV. They had a hood scoop that was very hollow/gutted. They kept trying to say it, but I knew better. WRX's run 15-16's stock up here. And this thing had a little pep, and was certainly not a NA 2.5L. I have seen those in the high 17's and low 18's up here. I don't think they were that slow.

They gave a thumbs up and we parted ways.

Jason says the car is faster, and Bobby thinks it should be as well. Well for the first time tonight the car felt better than it ever has. So I guess I can agree the weight did make a difference.

Steven

Just a small update. I was out front picking weeds after church this morning. I had the garage door up and music going. Down the street pulls a silver Subaru STI. Same color as the first car mentioned in my last update. A young kind pulls up in it and parks at my neighbors house directly across the street. He goes in an comes out like a minute or two later. He casually walks over and asks if I raced him the other day.

I told him that it was me. He said, "No offense man, but I never would have expected anything from the car. You have a total sleeper. I was giving it everything I had and you kicked my ass bad each time." I let him take a look at the car and we talked for a bit. His STI was not stock like I thought. He said he had Cobb Stage II everything minus the ecu/tune.

He said he laid down 290whp as the car currently sits. He asked what it ran an I said I am not sure. Haven't been in the current state. He said the car was insane, then was shocked when I told him how little was done to the car.

I told him about what is in store in the near future, and he said he would like to come take a look occasionally. I told him to come and say hi any time. He said it is his uncle that lives across the street and he is real close and over all the time. I hear what sounds like a subaru all the time going up and down the street. I never get up to go and look though. He was stopping by across the street this whole time.

All the kid could do was laugh at the car. Saying that he approved that I will suprise a lot of people. Then I told him I was the slowest one in the state and he really was speechless.

The car now weighs 2170. 2310 with driver.

I removed 98% of the sound deadening material. I just have two strips on the firewall and small bumps where the big patches on the floor were. It is the tar and not the sound deadener. I got most of it, but there are little bumps all over that weren't so easy to get off.

I also removed the speakers from the doors. I just have one small piece left ro remove. The passenger side door panel. I am leaving the driver's one on for now. The passenger one is messed up bad from sun damage.

Bobby threw the car on the alignment rack for me and all the was off was the steering wheel. Fixed that and car runs even smoother now.

And I officially need to get a new intake setup. But the new turbo is coming soon, so it will get done then. We tried to see how we could get more boost. We all started thinking that maybe I have the light spring in my boost controller. So we bypassed the controller and took the line off the wastegate acuator. We plugged off the line with a bolt and took it for a spin. It should have been infinite boost.

Well the car did not really feel any faster and the wideband stayed more or less where it has been. Now granted we did not have the laptop with us to verify, but there is indeed a huge restriction with the factory 11b intake and intake pipe(hot pipe).

Tranny out in 1hr 5min. Tomorrow is going to be dedicated to cleaning up the wiring a little more, some more engine bay cleaning, some more cleaning, some more cleaning, working on the last bit of tar in the car and moving some things around inside the car. Then hopefully on monday I will have the new 90 FWD tranny with AWD 5th gear that Jaysmirage, his dad and I put together.

I just only have to get the one shifter arm off of the KM210. I can't get the roll pin out. Jaysmirage has the punch I need. It will going on the chopping block monday.

90 FWD tranny is in. It took me two hours of grinding to clear the scatter shield of the shifter bracket/cables. Had to notch out a 2-3" long by 1-1.5" wide slot out of it. It actually needs a little more, but it was close enough I stopped caring and got the bracket good and tight to the tranny. Just a hair tweeked.

Ran the car on the jack stands in first gear for a few minutes to get the oil hot and cycled through the gear box. Went to shift to second, GRIND. Third, smooth, fourth, GRIND, fifth smooth, reverse, GRIND. So I started playing with the cables and got it to go in gear but just did not look/feel right. I unhooked both cables at the shifter and went and manually shifted the fruit and banana. No problems. All gears were there. After about 5-10 more minutes of a serious brain fart, I realized I had gone the wrong way. Got it in all the gears but was notchy. A little more tweaking and things felt better.

Pulled the car off the jack stands, torqued the wheels and took off for a test drive. At 1:15am. Was not too happy to slid into first. Actually couldn't find it. So I loosened the other cable and palyed with them until the car felt like it was semi smooth to drive. It is pretty close. Only five more minutes or so to adjust the clutch a tiny bit(still slightly over extending to the new pedal stop. I liked it on the KM210, but with the new tranny is does not feel right.). It was close enough I wanted to beat on it for a minute.

So less than a mile on the tranny and I opened her up. Spun really hard in first for a change. Went really straight though. Must be the SBR LSD insert. Banged second and ran through third gear. Made a small afjustment again to the cables and gave her a go. Two more 1-4 pulls and I was really happy with the way the tranny felt. Fast fast shift and super smooth. And no noise now.

YAH!

Tomorrow going to try to remove the 1G MAS and install the GM MAF and translator in draw through. Going to see if that helps get anymore out of this pig. Should do something as both my mafs do not have honeycombs. So should be a 3" open taper down the the turbo. Sorta like a ghetto FP intake.

fruit and banana fruit and banana fruit and banana fruit and banana fruit and banana FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKK.

I have been fighting this car for so long. I finally found out where all my "power" has been going.

I was about to rig up a screen over the GM MAF that I just put in draw through the other night to see if I can get more of of it. Well out of the corner of my left eye I see a "dimple/divet" in the upper pipe on the hotpipe that connects to the throttle body elbow. I look closer and can see braids in the dimple. Then out of my right eye I see the stock braided hose coming off of the j-pipe all frayed and shit. So I go under the kitchen sink and grab the soapy water.

I don't have a air compressor here, so I turn the car on and let it warm up. I then two step and antilag the car to get some boost in her. What do you know. A fairly big hole on the upper jose and more or less a crack from what appears to be a burst hose coming off the j-pipe. Not only that. With just the two step and not activating the antilag, the two rubber hoses in the system expanded to nearly double their original size. No flippin' way. I could have sworn the thing was going to burst right in front of me. So who knows what they look like under full boost. A boost leak test before never showed these things. At least not the hoses expanding.

The upper hose appears to be new damage. The lower one I noticed before but a boost leak test came out good.

So fruit and banana IT. I am done with the hotpipe setup. Everyone here wants me to put a 2.5" or 3" hotpipe on the thing and see what she is made of with my good throttle body. But my judgement tells me it will be a waste of my time. The way the car sounded the other night, with a proper setup I think this thing will be insane with the sleeper 16g. I just wish I could afford the new turbo and finish the water/air intercooler soon. But if I get the turbo this month, it might be spring time before I can fund the water/air setup. Mama wants some furniture so I have to wait. So for now I think we will work with what we got and complete the water/air setup. It will run and run well.

If I do this as well, I can probably splurge a little before the end of the year and get some hefty camshafts in the car.

So I have been working against myself and backwards this whole time. I think some of the damage came last week when I bypassed the boost controller and ran no vacuum source to the actuator. So I was running wide open boost for a few days trying to make something happen. Maybe not though.

So look for pictures and updates in the next week or two. I am picking up the water tank monday with the lines and fittings. I am just short a water pump for the water tank that has AN/NPT fittings on it.

This also explains why the car has been progressively getting richer. I have been having to take fuel out for almost two months now. A little here and a little there.

It is good to hear you did find something that wasn't allowing you to make more power in the setup, how much boost was it able to make with the leak and the wg actuator unhooked?

20.3psi. 19.4 with the controller hooked up. It was as high as 22.5 before. But I thought it was just the hot weather this whole time. But the way the car sounds now, it sound slike it should be at 30psi. I have NEVER heard a 16g sound like this. Not even when we had my friends wastegate wired shut and running 32psi.

I am expecting big things in the next few weeks.

16g is now at 29psi. I picked up 50 pounds with the new changes to the car. The intercooler, water tank and lines, and laptop and mount. The car now weighs 2220 again. Race weight is 2360 with driver.

I also ordered a new turbo. Holset HX52. It will be a while before the thing goes on. But thanks to 89coltgt I picked this up at a price I could not refuse.

Car is a mini beast now. Wish I had a bigger turbo though.
