It's probably right as I remember it coming up under the wrong year model when I ordered mine. Maybe its because the turbo cars were built in 88, who knows?

87-89 turbo cars run the same axles according to every parts catalog I've seen at work. Crackerman, have you bolted on DSM control arms? That I think would severely mess up camber unless the strut can be moved. What about the sway bar also? I run DSM hubs on my car, and there's no way a DSM axle will work because the steering knuckle hasn't moved. I'm looking into some things with 1.5L auto/manual axles and DSM auto/manual axles to see what compromises might be able to be made.

Have you tried a thick flat blade screwdriver right against the seal?

I'm retarded, wasn't even thinking about the intermediate shaft. Honestly though it may be easier to pull that and remove the axle that way. Then you can whack it with a hammer and get the two separated.

It'll be easier to pull out the jackshaft and the outer shaft as a pair.

Once out, Hold the assembly by the axle where it enters the tranny. Whack the outer axle at it's connecting point to the jackshaft, and it'll fall to the floor.

stock ride height colts with the LONG dsm axle shaft on the driver's will work.

a friend here made his own control arm bushings, installed awd dsm control arms and hubs, the positive camber was corrected by the arms, and he fixed the rest with a camber bolt.

Any updates on this Mark? I was just out messing with my new c53 and noticed it has a one piece driver axle :-?
Looks like that will have to be changed.

Btw, is there even a one-piece axle that will work ok?

So after undoing the two bolts from the intermediate shaft that bolt to the block, and turning the wheel to the right, the axle came out. Well, now time to get the female side out of the intermediate shaft. Ill take pics of comparison between the axles.

WOW. I cannot get the AWD axle out of the intermediate shaft. Anyone have any tips? That ended up screwing me cause I cant take back the axle to discount for a while too now. Oh well, heres a picture of a comparison. The bottom axle is the RIGHT axle you need. A 1.6 turbo mirage axle. The top one is the WRONG axle. 1g AWD TEL driver side axle. Hope this helps anyone in the near future. Remember, dont install the 1g AWD TEL driver side axle!

I would assume a 1g TEL FWD one would work, but you might need to check. Either that or maybe a non turbo mirage axle? Im not sure on the strength of that though. If you want to have a setup like mine, you would need-

-1g intermediate shaft (manual NOT auto)
-1.6turbo mirage driver side axle
-1g AWD axle seal to transmission
-I THINK you need a 1g FWD axle glued together with the AWD axle as well

EDIT: Just read this thread, and you cant use a 1g FWD TEL axle on the driver side, wont fit.
