No. I just dropped them off and picked them up. He had something laying around for the rear, but he had to go get another piece of stock for the front as it was a bit larger. These were pressed in. No heating.

Jaysmirage is getting my set when I am done to get his pressed in. That way it is a easy swap for the both of us. However, there should still be enough left that when Jason's mounts come out we could have one more set made.

All you would have to do is pay the $40 plus shipping. Let me know if this is an option.

Steven
I may do that as the stock would probably cost me that much. Lemme see what al. stock runs.

The inserts measure 3 1/8" for the front insert and a slight bit over 2 1/2" for the rear. I mean just a hair.

In that case, I will have a set made since the price of 3" stock and 3 1/8" is a big jump. Pm me the needed info.

I tell you what. Let me get these things installed so I can get Jason's done. When his mounts come out I will take yours over first thing. His work is only a few blocks from the place. We can work out the payment when it is closer to happening. I am thinking towards the end of next week. If that is ok. I need to get a longer extension as I only have a 3" here at the In-laws house. If I can get them in tomorrow, I can drop them off and have his done early next week. I will keep in touch.

And they actually had to turn down both pieces since they were bigger than what we needed. So I am not sure what the original sizes were. I think the rear started at about 3" though. I did get to see it before.

Alright. After finally overcoming my issues with the new injectors I went out for a spin to finish the tune.

Boost is maxed out at 21psi. I tried three times to go further. Either that is all the setup has, or that is as far as the throttle body seals will let me go. It is probably a little of both. It is falling to right around 18psi by 7000rpm.

So now my new shift points are, 6800-7200 in first, and 6500 in the rest of the gears. It is a whole new animal at 21psi. Even with no intercooler, there is no knock. E85 is a beautiful thing. I just wonder how far an intercooler and a good throttle body would let me go. I am sure I could max out that setup as well. Hopefully in the next 4-6 weeks I can get the car somewhere where I can take it down and install the throttle body I rebuilt last week and do the FMIC install. Hopefully funds are available.

Now where is that pesky Maxima?

Steven

Thanks once again to Jason for his time and effort. We dropped the down pipe and the crossmember as a whole. The mounts were a spot on match. Absolutely perfect install. Seriously no issues what so ever.

There is a good bit of noise and vibration upon take off from say a light or stop sign, but after you get cruising it is minimal at best. You can always tell they are there, but as a passenger it still feels the same to me. As the driver it was more evident. For the benefits from just one or two pulls today, it was well worth it. Hopefully Jason's will be done in the next few days and we can see what this does for a 2.0L 50 trim car. His engine moves ALOT. I mean ALOT. so we will see very soon.

Car is 100% finished for now. No more parts or tune I can throw at it.

Once I can get the car down and a few more bucks roll in, I will order up the struts, BC280's and install the FMIC and non-turbo throttle body at the same time. After that they only thing there would be to do would be make more power. I am satisfied for now though. The 14b is curing my need for speed.

Steven

Glad to hear you got it figured out Steven, now if only this damn snow would let up. The Maxima is always ready to lay the smack down...and if my slow car losses...well then you get the Black Widow. I'm coming for Jason too. Got all the kinks worked out yesterday and now she is purring like a kitten and roaring like a lion. Just need to get it on a dyno before I feel comfortable upping the boost.

Hea queerbait, if you go to the dyno might as well put in all E85. Like I said, it would be cheaper and you could play sooner. But in the long run there is just so much more you can do with a full time wideband.

The max no longer stands a chance I think. I am knocking on the door of 96-100mph I think. Somewhere in the low 14's.

But, if that is the case, I am down for a four way race between You, Davis, Jason and myself this sunday on 6th avenue. I hope to have Jason's solid mounts in by then. After that, his car will be 100% finished. I think that would be a fun race. We could put you guys three wide and I could bring up the rear just to see how I can keep up.

Any takers?

Steven

If I can scrape up some money, I will probably just hit the dyno for now with my expenses being the way they are.

I'm for sure game on a 3 wide race...Davis will likely pound us both but Jason's car vs me should be a good one.

Well she is tuned. It is faster. I do not have enough road to use foruth gear, and I didn't feel like driving to another road.

20psi is all it has. The 14b was stuck at 20 psi as well. I think there are now two restrictions. The whole hot pipe setup and the throttle body seals leaking like they are. I can hear the turbo for the first time. It is much louder than the 14b. It spools 200rpm later. That may not be the case, but at 12psi it was making full boost at 4300. I did not look at 20psi.

It seems the car is capped at 25lbs/min. With both turbos I cranked and cranked on the controller and the map sensor never moved. Both seem to not make any more airflow than 2000hz either. So there is some sort of restriction. A boost leak test only shows the throttle body. I think it is just too much air for the 1.75" hotpipe. If it is even that big.

But there is light at the end of the tunnel. From 60-78mph it is .3 seconds faster in just third gear. So the top end and power is there. Just have to find a way to use it. Maybe when the $600 tax rebate comes through I will man up and put the 4" intercooler on it.

I had my hopes up, but not too far. At least I have a shot at 13's on the hotpipe and the 1.6L now. I think I can make it happen. I need my FMIC bad. It is just sitting on the side of the house waiting. Along with my GM MAF and fresh non turbo throttle body.

Right and wrong time to buy a house. Right because we have $33,000 built in equity in the house, and bad because it is race season and I want to go fast.

Do you think a 1.6 with a 16/20g wtf ever would be a good run against a 2.0 with a 16g?

I often feel like I'm running around in a scooby doo lunch box. But then at the same time I have John Wayne sitting back with me shining up a nice desert eagle waiting for me to put my foot down so he can go to work on silly guys like you. Hungry?
