Picked up a 1994 Mitsubishi Libero GT to use as a parts car. We plan to rob the 3.545:1 rear end for the Cyborg as the Libero GTs run a Live Axle setup the same as the Cyborgs - all going well it will bolt right in! This means we'll ALSO be able to use the W5M33 thats also on board as we dont expect the stock 2.846:1 KM based setup to last long  The Rest we should sell off and cover the initial outlay of purchasing the whole car.

For those of you who don't know: A Libero GT is essentially a Lancer wagon (Same shame as Evo I-III) running a 4G93T 1.8L Turbo engine (200ish hp) and 4WD.

Also had a bit of a work session on the Cyborg this weekend: Have pulled the shifter cradle out of the Libero as it creates a short shifter for the older cars :D Exhaust manifold, turbo, and wastegate are all permanently in place along with the oil feed and drain :D Have decided no to watercool the turbo mainly because the CT26 compressor cover gets in the way of the feed from the waterpipe.

A few pics of the turbo up close and personal below :D

Wow, that looks really good! I've never seen anyone route their wastegate like that on a Mitsu exhaust housing.

Makes for the best possible boost control in my opinion :D I'll be doing the same on my later shape 4WD Mirage.

I think it's best right off the collector of the manifold, but that way works really well too.

Below is the 80% completed exhaust, you can see our dodgy 3" truck flexi too

Image

Was a little tricky getting the exhaust up and over the rear axle but we got it all sorted. Hopefully it won't get whacked by the axle when the rear end squats. Going underneath the axle would have been an option, but we thought it'd give us f**k all ground clearance so decided not to.

Starting to come together!

Righto, small work session on Sunday had us fitting the final bits for the i/c piping and intake. Weather was pretty miserable so we left it at that.

Have also used a radiator from a CD5A GSR because twin core turbo model Cyborg ones are hard to find at wreckers here. Fits up nicely, just need to be slightly creative with radiator hoses. The Turbo, Wastegate and dump pipe are at home for good now. Just need to complete the hangers on the exhaust system and that'll be permanently in place too! Just the ugly job of wiring and putting the rest of the car back together and we'll be ready to start it up!

The head is off a Mitsi RVR non turbo 4G63 (Same casting as the Evo I - III). We've fitted Evo III cams though. But yes essentially the same as a 2G DSM smallport head.

Anyhoo, Another reasonably productive session today.

- Boost controller fitted up
- Coilpack and leads fitted
- TPS Wired up and fitted
- Evo AFM plug wired in
- BOV fitted

Starting to look like an engine that'll run

It's a 4G61 motor mount cut short. He's not running the PS pump so the bracket doesnt need to extend that far forward. :)
