Well I went i drove my colt up to Home Depot and went in and bought some stuff. Upon my return to the car i got in and tried to start it. It turned over but no sputter of firing, it jsut kept cranking. So i then listened for the fuel pump, and I didnt hear it. THinking that this will be a hassle to replace i need to get it out of their parking lot. I go home and grab another pump from one of my old colts of the same and put it in the tank. Tried starting it but the same thing, no fuel pump kicking on. I checked all the fuses and the old pump and everything was good (fuses were the first thing checked before pump replacement) The repair manual shows that it has a MPI control relay, but to no avail can i find it on the car. Called up NAPA and they dont even list it asking what it is!! The only thing that I can think of is that it is on the ECU. The ECU doesnt have any leaking caps and looks in pretty good condition. But I do have my doubts about it. If anyone knows where the MPI relay is that would be great, as I dont really want to spend anymore money on the engine. Really want to do the swap, but having a really tough time finding a donor car/engine in good shape to use. Looked in the archives on this subject but nothing that is answered or the same. Any help would be great Or engine + shipping quotes to 55388
Thanks in advance. :)

I bet its still the ECU the caps do dry out over time... I'd say fix the ECU before you do anything else.

Could be a fuse, but dont just blow over a 2000+ poster as he kinda has dealt with/read about this before. I dont have access to the info you need right now but you can look it up by downloading this file http://www.lilevo.com/mirage/89-92%20Co ... anised.zip . The most common things are from left to right -> fuse/ecu then mpi.

Hope this helps!

It's the ECU. You can pick one up off this board for $50 or so.

sweet sweet otherwise NAPA can get me a new/refurb for like $104. So I am going to pay some bills first and then look into a new ecu. There is a questionable spot on the ecu so my bet is its the ecu. Thanks for all the help though guys!! much appreciated :)

Could be distributor. Had the same thing happen to me about 6 months ago. Diagnosed it down to no spark.
