I am in the middle of a 2.0 litre swap, and I don't want to run an oil cooler yet. is there a way I can plug the holes on the side of the oil filter housing??? (its a 90 style). do those lines need circulation or will it bypass if I plug them??? I suppose I can always loop the hose.

I run adaptors to -6an and caped them off, I been too lazy to install the oil cooler and lines--My oil temp has been fine anyways.

ya I was just thinking that since my JDM engine came with cut hoses I would just loop them together with a couple hose clamps, just so it can still circulate. I was just wondering that if I plugged them off if it would cut flow off. I didn't know if it needed to pass through the filter to circulate through the engine properly.

Here is the oil gallery "circuit" with a 90 oil cooler setup:



The oil will have to go through the bypass valve all of the time if you plug off the lines. Imo, it would be better if you looped the line together to maintain an unrestricted path.

A mightymax filter housing solves your problems and faces the filter forwards, or you can just loop the lines if you have a 90 housing, which is what I do, though I'll be going to the mightymax housing shortly.

Or you can find an abundant 91+ water cooled housing and bolt it up.

You could but take my advice, those things are trash and will eventually leak coolant into your oil even if you dont overtighten the oil filter and crush the sandwich section.

I have no coolant lines running to mine, therefore coolant will never mix with oil!

If people are bitching about hooking up the oil cooler lines or blocking off the lines, just use the water cooled housing. You dont have to block anything off.

So no oil cooler at all then? Might as well get a NT oil filter housing for that!!

I don't know about Wisconsin, but I bet no oil cooler in the summertime here in Alabama would be murder on my engine...8k in 100 degree weather

Well, mine is like that just so I could get the car running. When I find AN lines I will hook up my cooler housing.

No doubt. The '90 style filter housing is one of the best things mitsu ever did!
