Has anyone ever tried open atmosphere venting the wastegate on an internal wategate turbo, say a 16G? I was thinking of just having a flange made to bolt up to the turbo, Make it accept the O2 sensor, and having the wastegate port out of the fender to increase efficiency, limit boost creep, and scare V8 drivers, as if a turboed 4G63 in a colt isnt scary enough! What are everyones thoughts?

A friend of mine built it. He used flanges and a 2.5" Stainless Steel donut pipe that he got from RRE. I think it was about $30-40 in parts.

I have some pictures somewhere. When I find them, I will put them on here.

All you need to do is cut the wastegate dump at the return and weld a patch over the retun hole. You would cut the area out that's marked in red.

For thos of you interested Fatbastard has one modified that's most likely for sale.

On a stock O2 housting?! So then it would be dumping right onto the radiator?! I dount like the sould of that. Is their any way to run a pipe wiht this Idea? I got one.. Can anyone think of a shop in their area that could mass produce this? This would be a ig money maker, seeing as it will work for most of the mistu turbo lineup.

Sure, you just weld an outlet pipe onto the housing. You can have it vent anywhere you want it to, I'm going to have mine blasting pavement :).
