What the hell is going on with the tunning community these days? Because i aparently missed the memo.

I go out to have some fun at our local cruise spot. Just talk cars, maybe find someone who wants to do a fun run or something. So i watch this Black civic coupe roll in on the Mugen knock off Rotas. I hear the BOV and think its nothing too much. He pulls in and gets out, meets his friends. Then they all start eyeing my car and me. So after 15 min of this i got tired of it. I go over and introduce myself. THey just looked at me and said hey. So i ask him about his car, he just says its turboed SOHC yadda yadda yadda. I ask him if he wants to do a fun run or something. He snapped back with "Got $400?" so i said i didnt have that much on me or was really prepared to go for money tonight. So i start asking questions and hes just dripping with this cocky attitude, like hes gods gift to the world. I just try and find out whats done because im intrested. He keeps going back to, "i'll open the hood after we race". Also giving me dirty looks and saying little things about me to his "boys". Well i had had just about enough, so i told them to have a good night, he goes "yeah". I walk away.

Well i call up my friend and see if he knows the car, he says yeah. Aparently this real good civic guy used to own it and built it up pretty good, he said 500+whp. But heres the funny thing, the kid that owns it bought it fully moddifed. I laughed. I couldnt believe this kid was being this cocky about a car he bought quick. Just stupid if you ask me.

I know this doesnt sound all the amazing or intresting. But it was just the way he acted like his civic was better than everything in the world. It pissed me off. Too me, most civic drivers and not car enthusiasts.

Cliffs: Went to local cruise spot, civic kid was being cocky about a car he bought fast, i walked away wanting to smash his face in.

500whp civic on the street = 12sec flat at best, thats with a slick. We have way too many +400whp civics around here on the street and they are quick, no doubt about that, but they won't touch anything with muscle or AWD cause they get owned so bad 1/8th mile that there is no way they can catch up, even though they trap +130mph. Get this kid to run any high 11sec RWD or AWD car on the street and he doesn't stand a chance, even with a slick he'd probably lose.

He'll probably sell it the first time he blows a head gasket.

If you can get it to the ground. On the street without slicks? No 500hp fwd car is gonna hook under those conditions.

Exactly. Anything over 300 HP and you almost start losing more power than you gain. I once had this idiot kid with a 2G Eclipse want to race me back when I had my 3G Eclipse GT. He was claiming that his car was a GSX with an Evo motor under the hood. He refused to open the hood unless I beat him. Funny thing was he had rear drum brakes and there was no BOV sound when he drove off. I still kick myself that I didn't race him and embarass his stupid ass.

Well since its not a track theres no such thing as a 12 second car on the street. But if you think a 500HP Civic can't hook on the street come around my way. Real street racers know how to use that power with stages boost and good driving. Will it hook like at the track no, but would I take a 300 HP car over a 500 HP car yea as I would coudl I be gone on the top end, any fwd should know not to come off the line at full boost. Was that guy a tool yes, lots of people like that running aroudn here.

You must have skipped a few words that I included in my first post, one being that I said on the STREET, you are gonna have trouble getting a 500whp civic to run any quicker that 12s. Though I understand what Corey is saying that there is no such thing as a 12sec street car, but seriously, you can can tell what a car runs on the street if you've seen enough races so its an easy way to gauge how fast a car is. I've seen +700whp civics with slicks and doing burnouts through VHT that was set on fire lose to mid/high 11sec RWD muscle cars on the street. Two and three stage boost control is nice but hondas aren't able to get out the hole on the street like they can at the track with slicks and 2 steps launching at 8k rpm, they just lose too much ground out the hole compared to a RWD or AWD car and they can't make it up if the car is decently quick. Now I have seen all motor hondas and nitrous hondas run very very consistent from strip to the street but I am mostly referring to turbo hondas when I speak of their inconsistencies from the track to the street.

agreed pretty much..

as for the other guy with the SOHC, so what if he bought it like that? I mean, since when does someone who buy another persons hooked up car and different than the person who built it? Plus, it probobly cost him alot, and he probobly races for money on the street so yeah maybe he was shady to you, but see if he blows his own spot then he may lose money to other people in the process.

oh yeah another thing, I can prove that turbo hondas eat v8 ass on the street on an abacus

there is a 480hp turbo Integra here that runs low 11s all day long at the track without slicks. You just have to have the right suspension mods, a limited slip, and some self control.

The car was not SOHC, he was just being a liar. All the time he had a cocky laugh anf everything. But i dont want to turn this into an argument thread.

And there is that 900hp civic hatch from Idaho or something. The guy drives it to the track, runs 9's and drives home. I am no means a honda hater, i just hate the people who drive them (the majority at least).

ok my buddy Dave has a 375hp TO THE WHEELS in his CRX. I know this for a fact as I have been in the car, seen videos and also been to the track that his car with slicks runs high 11 seconds. Thats just 375hp. I'm guessing that a 500hp civic would deffenitly run faster then 12 with slicks. BUT still you put so much into thoes honda motors to get that much gain. thats why I like mitsubishi... little money, big gains. :finga:

Yeaaaaa um I gonna have to ask you to refrain from jinxing the rest of us. Mitsus are damn expensive to get running right and consitant. Damn Hondas buy a shell for $200 a LS bottom end and Vtech head, a 100 shot and insta 12's low 12's possible 11's on slick and susspension. Pop that bottm end get another form the junk yard for $100 bucks
