1: put a valid location in you profile

2: put a valid location in you profile (even if you live somewhere strange like Kuala Lumpur)*

3: it can not go to a full 2L due to a lower deck height. It can be bored out though.... some of the internals geeks will have a better answer for this one.

(Oh, and a 4g63t looks the same as a 4g61t.... keep that in mind :))

*MWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

You can get the thing to almost 1.8L using 4g64 pistons its a pain just buy a 4g63 engine

I have a 61T which is bored to 1.8L. I'm using 4G63 SOHC pistons.

Just remeber that piston pin compression height is taller on the 4g63 pistons so some machining will need to be done.

paul ....right oh found the previous post on this matter.

berseko
new laws being passed here bans all 4g63t transplants in all Proton cars here.

so just looking to see if there are anyway around this. 4G61 block with 4g63 internals.

how much of the sleeve is left?. Strong enough?

dragstr4g61t
sorry......not worth it right?

How much boost can I throw at this setup (no more work except more fuel)?.

Still trying to pull a fast one on THE MAN.

Its really not worth the cost off all the machining and honestly you will only get marginal gains. You could just swap in a 63 short block and grind off the stamping, then have it stamped 4g61. Most people would never be able to tell a difference by just looking at it.

A 61 can also put out some good numbers, a friends stock internal 61 just did 300 hp and 265 ft lbs with a B16G, The power stays above 280 hp from 5,300 till 8,000 rpms, another CSM owner with a 63 and B16G did 280 hp and 305 ft lbs at 18#'s...the 61 was at 20#'s. Both engines had nearly identical mods.

Naturally spool time was a little slower and off boost power was better in the 63 but once boost hit the quick rev's of the 61 were simply amazing. He ran a 13.7 at 107 mph on crappy street tires at an elevation of 5,800 ft. Your money might be better spent elsewhere....but its all a matter of what your looking for and what your eventual plans are. There is still no replacement for displacement.

I've been watching this post for a bit and I think you can do it. Here's the scoupe...

Stock 4g61 bore is 82mm and stroke is 75.5mm right?

Take the 88mm 4g63 crank and put it in. Now ooooops, the pistons stick out of the hole 6.25mm. Since you are probably getting forged pistons anyway then have them move the compression height down 6.25mm from stock. This *should* work since 4g63 strokers move it down 6mm and you're moving it only a tiny bit more. Use any stock or forged 150mm length rod and you're good to go. Overbore as desired to get 2.0L...

Now an 82mm bore and 88 mm stroke is a 1.86L.
With a 83mm bore you have a 1.9L
84mm you have a 1.95L
85mm (stock 4g63) you have a 1.98L
86mm you have a 2.05L
87mm you have a 2.1L
88mm you have a 2.14L
89mm you have a 2.19L
90mm you have a 2.24L

How big can you actually bore? Who knows. Sonic YOUR motor and find out.

that's because 4g63 stroker kits are easy to find. If you can find a stroker kit for a 4g61, then it's up to you. I'd just go to 4g63, as it's a direct swap from 4g61 with the clutch and flywheel.

I have an interesting one:

I purchased a 91 GSX parts car (i traded a T-25 and a 14B for it :) and when I tore the engine down, I found out that it was actually a 1.6L...HAHA. Anyway, ill take some more measurements, but the differences between the 2.0L are the stroke, bore, and oil squirters. The front case on the 1.6L is pre- "balance shaft eliminated" and it will fit the 2.0L. It also has the stubby shaft in place of the oil pump balance shaft. As far as the deck height goes, im not sure. You may be able to bore the 1.6 out to a standard 2.0L bore, tap for oil squirters, and drop a 2.0L crank, rods, pistons in.

Dropping in a 4G63 is, however, the smartest, cheapest, easiest, and most reliable move. I believe trying to stroke a 1.6L is wasting alot of good money on mods for a 2.0L....

If you want a 2.0L to build, Email me @ X__plosion@hotmail.com. I have a core that jumped a belt and would like to sell it. The crank and bores are good but the head is rough. If anyone is interested I ship anywhere in the US.

You'd need custom made shorter rods to make the 88mm crank fit the 4G61 like you do with the hybrid 4G63/64 motors. You cant raise the piston pin 6.5mm, there would be no room for the piston crown!

You're not raising it, you're lowering it. And it has to go down .25mm more than a 4g63...I think you can spare the quarter MM :axe:

Cost simply isn't worth it.

Chris, wouldn't moving the piston pin down cause it to stick up even farther, I thought the pin would have to be moved closer to the crown (up) in order to put the piston below the deck.

Oh, and a 61 should have oil squirters. Same part number as the 63's.
At least mine did.
