Its for the left side (driver side), I have the AWD half shaft, but for the outer half I tried putting in a 1g AWD axle and its too long. Do I need to get the 1.6 turbo mirage axle? I called discount, pep boys, and carquest and they dont carry them! Thanks!

Alot of places have them listed under "89 Mirage Turbo Axle" but the only place i'd trust is Napa or Carquest.
In case you can't find it let me know.
A buddy of mine has a used one from his set.

I've often wondered if converting to 1G DSM front spindles would cure the axle problems and let you use AWD DSM axles? I wonder if the DSM spindles are spaced out a little more? I remember reading that Mr. HYDE successfully used a 1g AWD DSM axle in his Colt but I am almost positive that he had DSM/GVR4 spindles.

Mark, if you compare the Colt axle to the dsm axle how much of a difference is there length wise?

I would certainly suggest doing that. I cant remember if I used the entire drivers side axle assembly in my old Turbo CSM or if I used JUST the half shaft.

I remember posting a comment a while back on the same issue and lilevo was kind enough to post that JUST the iner axle was the same length, not the outer axle.

Sorry I cant be of more help

You need to use a Turbo Mirage axle. DSM axles will not work. I sell the axle you need at my work, it's ~$90 shipped brand new without a core charge.

Carquest does have them, they have to be ordered though. Don't ask them to look them up. Get the part numbers here and have them the one you need.

I wonder if swapping over to dsm spindles would widen things up a bit more in order to use the slightly longer dsm axle? There must be an explanation of why Mr. Hyde was able to make a dsm axle fit in his car.

you can put dsm control arms on and widen the front track, or use the dsm one piece axle with stockish ride height and not have a problem
