I hate to say but the 4g61 and the 4g67 head are the same part number so there is no diffrents in the heads, I looked into it a few years ago and spoke to mitsubishi.

As I needed to know because my tappets on my 4g67 was rattley so I kept my 4g61 head to put on it

I think you guys in Europe got a slightly different 4g67 head. Out here, the 4g67 heads all had the larger intake ports like a 1st-Gen 4g63 head. There are those rare cases where people buy JDM 4g61t's and the head says "1.8" on the side, but has the small intake ports on it still. There are a few threads on here dealing with this I think. People put the 4g67 head on the 4g63 bottom-end because the 4g67 has a slightly smaller combustion chamber which bumps up the compression a tad. I'm not sure if this would have any effect on a 4g61 bottom-end, and you'd have to swap over your intake manifold to one from a 1st-Gen DSM because of the larger intake ports. It's not really worth it.

Interesting, I know the only diffrents between the two engines in euroupe is that the 4g67 has a smaller bore and a longer stroke than a 4g61.

I was wondering what would happen if I bored out a 4g67 to a 4g61 size then used the 4g61 pistons in a 4g67 block crank and conrods??

That would be a interesting mix?

To my knowledge, the 4g67 has the same stroke as a 4g63, but a smaller bore. 81.5mm x 88mm according to wikipedia. It probably wouldn't be worthwhile to put together a combination like that.

So fitting 4g61 pistons would kinda make it a 4g63 nearly then?

Nope. Your displacement would go from 1836cc to 1872cc. Not a noticeable enough increase in displacement to warrant any power gains.

Get a crate motor Gaz. Sell off the extras. Most cost effective way to do it, and make some back to offset the initial hurt in the wallet. Motor will already have what you need and you can sell the old one entirely at that point. I know having a kid, family and multiple sexy cars takes a toll on the wallet.
