I can't seem to get full throttle after the swap. It seems like the throttle cable is to long. Do I need to track down an 89 gt cable? Im using a 4g15 sedan cable. (car was auto if that matters.) im bolting the cable to a stock 4g63 intake manifold. I'm wondering if the gt cable will work better being that the 61 and 63 manifold are the same style.

The throttle cable fitting that bolts to the intake manifold should be fairly slotted, about 1/2" of slot on each hole. This is what I used to adjust my cable tension. If it has these slots and you cant seem to get it adjusted properly I would run a 61 or 63 cable, although I'm sure a little fab work can make it happen with your current cable.

The factory 4g15 cable I am using is slotted and in it's tightest position im still only getting about 1/2-3/4 throttle.

On my last swap I ended up not using either of the stock mounting points for the cable. Instead I used one that is a little further back and only used one bolt to hold it down. I think I remember someone posting a while back that they went to Autozone or Advance and purchased a 4G61 cable for a 89 turbo and got an actual Mitsu oem cable from them though so you may want to look into that too.

Yea I saw this thread too. But I ran that part number, and I think it's for a Dsm. I would buy a gt cable if I could find that part number

A flat piece of metal and some self-tapping screws can fix the situation. I took the piece of metal that bolts to the IM and ran a couple screws through it into my fabbed metal plate. I then marked my fabbed plate where it should mount to the IM while keeping the throttle cable taught. Drill out holes where the marks are and bolt back to the IM. Here's a pic where you can kinda see what i did. Total time was about an hour.

a 4G CSM cable will work... but you have to only use one bolt to hold it down and use the most drivers side hole.

Why don't people just get the 4g61t cable from Mitsu or any other site that will list one? I have a 4g61t car and a 4g63t was installed, and it works properly with no issues or iffy fabbing.

DSM cable will work, but the hard metal housing must be bent through trial and error. Took me a few minutes but not a big problem.

Thanks for your confidence in my fabbing skills. :butthead: Most of us on this board try to spend the least amount of money while getting the most from our vehicles. That being said, why spend extra $ on a throttle cable when you can use what you have and spend nothing. Jerry-rigging is not in my vocabulary, and my 1.5L cable has worked for 6 years this way with perfect throttle response and no adjusting needed.
