ALWAYS use blue threadlocker on all of the bolts for the front timing cover and timing components. It's cheap insurance and bolts are guaranteed to back out if you've taken out the balance shafts (or never had them). As for timing, I lined up the crank marks and aligned the marks on the cam gears (before putting the head on the engine), then put the belt on the bottom first, then intake cam and while turning the exhaust cam a little (because the lines never truly match up until tension/the belt is on) to line up the marks, I slipped it over onto the exhaust gear and slid it onto the gear. A double verify of the marks all around and then I pulled the pin. Easy stuff.
