1g turbo TB and 2g elbow mounted.

Homemade egr blockoff

There's no room in the 3g to use the rear mount on the trans case so I modded my 4g15 mount to bolt to the back of the 4g64.

My yoshifab strut bar that was traded from jdmhotness for some work on his car.

A quick clean on the stock x-member, then I painted it with some semi-gloss black.

I blasted and painted a 2.4 expo oem header and mounted it using a new gasket, some ss washers and brass locknuts. Still waiting to find a mint heat shield with no dents to refurbish for it.

So clean everywhere. I rarely have the patience to clean further than "spray it with the pressure washer and spraybomb it".

I ran a 12mm 1.25 tap into the holes on the back of the 4G64 block since they've never been used before and bolted on my modded rear engine mount. Then I bolted up the stock x-member. Yes, I really should have dropped the steering rack and cleaned it up and painted it but I didn't. It's fairly easy to get to though so I can always come back and do that later. Too many other important things to do to the car at this point.

Then I proceeded to modify a front roll stop for the mount on the front of the transmission since there are no mounting points on the front of the block. I started with a 6" x 4.75" 3/16" thick steel plate and drilled two mounting holes off to one side to mount it to the x-member where the original roll stop was.

Then I jacked the front of the engine up until the main crank bolt on the pulley was in the center of the hole in the D/S front fender well. This told me the engine was where it needed to be. Then I used the rear roll stop from a 4g csm since it was smaller in diameter. I buffed the paint off the edges and sat it in place, marked it in several places, then removed it and spot welded it in a few spots. Checked the fitment on the car one last time and welded it on.

I was going to reinforce it a little more but after bolting it on it seemed to be really solid so I just cleaned it up, primed and painted it and bolted it on for good. Here's what I ended up with.

I also blasted and painted the upper radiator brackets and tossed on some new hardware.

Still lots of little things left to do but I'm trying to check at least one thing off the list every day.

I know it doesn't look like much but I probably have at least 30 hours in this 1g na 91-94 dsm engine harness. I went through and removed everything that I wasn't using like the plugs for cruise and the egr sensor. I lengthened the wires so now I can put my ecu in the center like a 1g. I also took the time to wire up the AC so that it will plug into the factory AC plug up by the D/S strut on the firewall. I removed the plastic shroud since I'm using a 2g intake manifold. I triple checked my work so it should all just plug in and work fine, fingers crossed.

If the weather cooperates I will install it tomorrow. Then I can put the heater box back in and then the dash. Plus part of the harness routes behind the brake booster so I can install that as well. I also installed the axles and removed the 1g front springs and removed another half coil so that's 1 coil total. There is about a 3 finger gap or so now between the fender and the tire which is about right. Not too low and not too high in my opinion.

You have the manuals by chance? It's really not that hard, just time consuming.

I installed the engine harness a few days ago. Most of the fugly red interior went back in yesterday.

Heat shield and air-can back in with some custom plumbing to get rid of the restrictive stock piece. I also upgraded to the larger elantra brake booster along with a 1" bore M/C from the stealth/3000gt since the larger brakes are going on the front.

I went with a 2g dsm power steering pump that takes a ribbed belt. This is the first 3g I've had with power steering, can't wait to see how it drives. Alternator and power steering pump both got the clean and paint treatment as well. Can't toss some old crusty accessories on my fresh engine now can I? 8)

Waiting on some last minute parts from JNZ and Rockauto. It might actually run this week. Fingers crossed.

Looking good buddy! I did that pump on my power steering as well. No more squealing belt!

2g power steering pump is a good idea. Do they still have that RPM sensitive steering crap that 1g's have?

love this "bandaid" build, thinking about doing this to my 4g Mirage just for drivability and a little more power.

That thing is going to be fun to drive. I had a 240sx with the dohc 2.4. It was real tourquey and a very fun four cylinder car. This car being lighter will be great

Thanks guys! Right now I'm using a 91-94 eprom with the 2.0 240cc injectors and maf. Once its broken in good I plan to look around and see what else is available. I believe the 2.4 injectors are 275cc. Maybe I can get a chip burned for the 275's and a 2g maf. We'll see.
