Nice! It whooped your ass when you shifted into second. I'd say a cage, seat and harness just so you can drive the thing.

Are you planning to cage this car, Jason?

Kinda on the fence.. It's a big project that I've never thought about. No idea where or how to start on it.

I feel ya. I never want to cage my DSM. Good thing it's slow... :(

Have a few other issues to fix first. Pumps are running out over 35psi. I have a 255hp in tank and 255 inline both rewired. I might go with that Kenne Bell boost-a-pump and see how much more I can get out of those pumps. Any other upgrade is a mini-project.

Also that weird surging you saw in 2nd gear. Want to upgrade my hot side and maybe throw in better cams than the 272/272s.

Here is another video that shows it better in 3rd gear. Only thing I can think of is compressor surge. It's still the old Ford 5 bolt .63 hot side. I'm WOT when that's happening and the boost is literally surging.

The boost-a-pumps are pretty damn effective. Swapping to a V-band .82 a/r housing would probably make a big difference and give you more power too. The 272's are probably still good for a while.

If you can do the AWD swap then you can do a cage. Pretty sure you only need a 6 bolt cage so no need for halos over the doors. Definitely look it up in the NHRA rule book. Jegs sells weld-in kits for Fox-body Mustangs that are very cheap and fit 1gs very nicely. I am sure it would fit your sedan.

Yeah that stinks. Turns a street car into a race car real quick. Jegs has those real cheap too though!

I got my cage from S&W Racecars.. right around $280 shipped for an 8pt but they offer 10pt as well. You take a bunch of measurements of your car and fill out a form and they ship you a pre-bent and cut "kit".

Mine wasn't perfect but it was pretty close. Still required some fitting but for the price I don't think you can beat it.
