Not much progress lately but I'm still gathering parts thanks to two very good friends, Natedog and Possiblevr4. One for the uber rare silver faced Mirage GS tach cluster and the other for a mint gray dash pad.

I just need to paint the needles red on the cluster and polish the clear plastic so that it looks perfect.

Love that gauge cluster, man....and it's going to look good in the white car.

Chris, keep in mind that my mirage is lowered quite a bit, and that after swapping in the elantra control arms my driver's side cv axle was maxed out. I studied for a dsm axle that was close to 1 inch longer than the mirage turbo axle...I recall it to be just less than an inch longer, and it solved that problem in a snap!
OK I put the na mirage lower control arms up against the elantra ones today and took some measurements. Seems the elantra arm is already roughly 3/8" longer. This may be why dsm axles worked fine on your car, especially since your car is lowered. Looks like I may not need to extend these after all.

Wait....did I mention that I'm running a turbo csm axle on the passenger side though? I didn't have issues on that side, didn't appear to be overextended there, it was only the driver's side that I had to run a dsm axle. A dsm axle on the passenger side may be too long. Pretty crazy, huh?

What front hubs are you going to use? If I think correctly won't this make the wheel out a little further than normal making the overall wheel width on the front greater? My concern is the difference (if any) of the distance from the centerline of the ball joint to the face of rotor being different between Galant hubs and CSM hubs. Does it really matter if the front is a bit wider?

I'm going to be using 4g 4x100 csm knuckles and hubs. I really don't see a problem with the car being an extra inch wider at the most.

In theory a wider front makes it turn tighter, similar to a forklift

more info on this possible new axle/A-arm alternative!

Wouldn't you think that if you are using elantra control arms that a passenger side elantra axle would work instead of getting a turbo mirage axle? Rockauto is saying that 93-95 Elantra axles are the same as Colt GTs.

I thought the inner stubs that snap in to the tranny were shorter on the elantra's like they are on na csm's. This means they won't catch in the diff like they should in a turbo dsm tranny.

Here is the cross reference provided by rock auto.

They probably meant the na GT's with the 4G15's in them.

^^^^ He's right. Remember, the only turbo GT's were in 89' and could be listed as an 88'.

Thanks for pointing this stuff out to me. I did some further investigation and found that a 93 made before 7/93 Elantra has the same right axle.
