Very nice, how much did the custom rods run you for the 4g61? What compression are they w/the 4g63 head?
The rods are regular 1st Gen 4G63. The pistons are custom. They cost about $700, but they pretty much have all the bells and whistles offered by Ross, including ceramic coatings. The compression ratio is about 10:1.

Very nice Marck! What diameter pistons did you have made? Did you just send a stock one in and they made yours based off of it with higher compression? Keep us updated, I'm very interested in this since I'm still rocking the 4g61t.

Yes, I did send them a sample. They are 83.5mm Which is 1.0mm over stock. Ross has computer data of the 1st gen 4g63 head, so basically they matched the 4g61 piston to the data for the '63 head, and came up with the hybrid piston. How are you doing with your '61? What's the most you have gotten out of it?

This is very interesting to me. I also am planning to have ROSS make me custom forged pistons for my 4G61T, even before seeing this thread. So your saying those 1G Carillo rods fit right in without any customization? I want to put 1G Eagle rods in my 4G61T, but people were saying they wouldn't fit right in. Is this not true?

4G61T and 4G63T use the same rods and bearings in 1g formulation.

Absolutely correct. Put them side by side if you do not beleive me. The only differences between the two short blocks are the crank (shorter stroke), the pistons (smaller bore) and the block (lower deck height and no balance shafts)

Mine is running good, added a few more nice complements since dynoing 308 hp uncorrected at 6,000' elevation. Got a stronger clutch, DSMLink and 1150 fic's to run e85. I ran a 12.3 @ 122 on the old set-up at 18 psi...this thing absolutly flys compared to that. I'm running 23 psi now and my logs show me spinning till 85 mph when doing a 3rd gear roll from 60. I'm running drag radials too and my LSD still hasn't gotten here due to a weak supplier...so traction will have to wait.

I've been trying to find someone to send me a set of their stock 4g61 na pistons for some comparison work. I want to see what kind of power I can get out of the stock bottom end before spending money on forged high comp pistons. I know the pistons are definately the weak link. I've got another 4g61t in my garage that I am thinking of doing a full build in the distant future.

Aw, yes. Thank you for confirming this. So, the rods and the bearings are the same. And I guess this means ARP rod bolts that are for a 1G will also bolt right in a 4G61T? Thank you for your help. I appreciate it. :D

Everything in the ARP catalog for the 1st Gen 4g63 fits, flywheel bolts, main studs, head studs, rod studs, crankshaft pulley bolt. Trust me I have them all. I repeat the only difference to the bottom end, is the stroke of the crank, the bore, the pistons and the deck height of the block. The bearings are the same (I used ACL), the flywheel, even the crankshaft dampers are interchangeable.

LOL, you should definately leave the W/G dump tube pointing straight up! Looking good so far, can't wait to see the final results. Which turbo are you planning on using, I can't remember.

It makes a hell of a racket when it opens up :D . I'm using a Forced Performance FP3052.
