so i decided tonight that its time to start matchin up my setup to the local racer boys and see where i stand.
the night started out with a Civic sporting a K20head on a K24 block and tuned with AEM management.
we pulled up on the lights and waited for green....GREEN...i launch, but too hard....1st gear spins, 2nd gear redlines and spins, 3rd gear hooks but its already over..
disappointed, i try again, same result...
this also happened against a Honda Integra and a Nissan SE-R.
i was a bit dejected especially due to the fact that my shop guys all came out to support!!
i went for a lil drive and decided to practise my launch. got something workable and put some damage on the following vehicles:
Toyota Ceres - 4AGE (20 valver)
Nissan B14 - GA16 DET
Nissan B14 - GA16DE
Nissan Skyline - RB2XDE (non-turbo, manual)
Suzuki Swift - 1.3 DOHC Turbo
i also managed to best the initial civic with the K20 Frank setup...much to the small crowd's surprise!!
my trick is to roll off 1st, shift in 2nd easily, (all these at 1/2-3/4 throttle) and from 3000rpm in 2nd, i floored it and then WOT till 4th.
ANY OTHER WAY, and its way too much wheel spin and hop...its disgusting!!
so my lil 1.6T did me proud for its first set of runs, especially since its in a lancer station wagon!!! im goin to have to look at stiffening my suspension rubbers as well as mounts and also larger rim size?
PS: this weekend, i'm HUNTING more SE-R's (SR20-DE). when i get things goin better with traction, ill start tackling their turbo counterparts!
