Supposedly they bump power up like 15-20 HP. I'm not sure on that. You know, those guys tell you they turbocharged their Daihatsu Mira so it makes 15000000 Hp now or something.
I guess 10 HP could be realistic on a stock engine.

 Yeah I know. :) So you haven't personally tried 'em or know of anyone who did?

Well your guess of about a 10hp gain is something but I'm guessing that's just a hairline over if I just used a stock 63T exhaust cam, would you think so?

Honestly, I just don't know. Those 10 HP were guesstimated. :-?

Sir, one more question. Would you know of any "valve-piston" clearance issues if I do put the turbo cams (either stock 4G63T cams or HKS 264's) in my 4G67?

Yes, never ever let the timing belt rip or slip. Remember, those engines are already interference engines. Other than that, the Turbo cams do not affect piston-valve clearance in any significant matter.

No worries there but thanks for the reminder.

I've been told the 1.8 JDM turbo motor has no B.S. (can't confirm that), don't know about Hyundai 1.8.

I've always "heard" that the bal. shft. removal was worth 10 hp. Since it's a "heard" thing, I would look realistically for 5-8hp. IMHO. I have a set of turbo cams if anyone is interested.
Oh, and the general thought is to retard the exhaust 0ne link which is aprox. 5*. You can check the clearance easily by using a socket wrench on pulley and slowly rotate the crank two revolutions with the plugs out (eases compression). Listen for a "touch" but I'm sure that you will be OK.

I did a comparison of stock dsm cams a while back. many of you are members of galantvr4.org - so log in and hopefully it will let you follow this link:

http://www.galantvr4.org/ubbthreads/sho ... Post187568

if not search for "Stock DSM Cam Comparison - pics" under sleepyvr4.

the lobes were essentially measured with a digital caliper, and all measurements and cam types were recorded.

i was told by a mitsu mechanic that if you retard the exhaust cam by 1 tooth on the belt it made them go better.think it freed them up at higher rpm.i never got round to trying it on my car when i had it thou.

Yes, that is the general mantra. five to seven degrees exhaust retard is called for to get more TOP end. One tooth is about that.
