How is everyone doing? I just stepped in to say hi and see how everyone is doing. I've been going through it guys...I got a new job (again) at a company that manufactures and installs a seamless gutter system and have gone through two cars since I've been here last. I had the 95 Chevy Beretta, I bought a 98 Buick Century and was in a bad car accident in it a couple of weeks ago. I rear ended some girl in a 01 Ford Windstar at 35 MPH and totaled her van. The only damage to my car was that the airbags went off and shattered the windshield. Anyway, I needed a new car and I didn't have any money so my cousin sold me his 1984 Dodge RamCharger with a 360 V8 and a 800 CFM Carter ThermoQuad carb, A727 3 speed trans, 4 wheel drive, AC, power windows and locks, and it's been acting up. I've only had it for less than a week and it's really pissing me off. I don't know shit about a carb and it will drive all the way to work (25 miles) just fine, but as soon as it warms up I can make it 20 miles before it just cuts out. The only way it will start again is if I pour some gas into the carb and let it idle for a few minutes. It's annoying as hell. I'm already looking into doing a 1990 TBI/Magnum head swap. But hey, I will stop by every now and then to see how everyone is doing. I have to run and try to find a solution to my problem. Later guys! |

check all the rubber fuel lines from the tank to the carb...if they feel hard or even look the slightest cracked..replace them.. I had a 66 cuda that did the same thing..ran great till it warmed up... it had a crack in the line coming off the tank..looked fine but once I took it off and moved it around u could see the hole in it.. what it was doing was sucking up air and vapor locking the line..once it sat for 20+ minutes it would start again.... hardest issue I have had to track down. and the simplest fix also.. Possibly running too lean. The choke is closed when cold, less air=richer fuel mixture, gets warm, choke opens, too much air. Check the plugs, if they're white, you're too lean. |
