Hello Forum,

I recently acquired a Silver 1989 Mitsubishi Mirage. I'm new to CSM but I've owned DSM cars to include a 1985 Pickup truck, GVR4, 1G FWD Eclipse, 2G FWD Eclipse.

I always loved this car ever since I saw it back in 89 but couldn't afford it at the time. My plans for this car is to get it road worthy ASAP. It's going to be my 80 miles per day daily driven car. I need this to be as reliable as possible which I think it will.

Since I know very little about the history of the car, I was hoping the 2nd or 3rd owner of this car registered here or someone in this forum will recognize this car. This car probably cruised the Vallejo, Martinez, Vacaville area.

I will add the VIN into the registry tonight and here are some pics of my Silver Mirage Turbo.

Clean ride, dude! Welcome to the forum. Make sure you post the VIN to our registry if you haven't already, and please put a location in your profile.

Welcome!

What does the car need to be road worthy?

I want to black-out the grill. I think the Euro bumper looks more sportier that the US version.

First and foremost is a new 14b turbo but I'll open a different thread for this.

Profile now includes location.

Thanks for the pleasant welcome.

The car looks vaguely familiar to me. I think mostly seeing it for sale once about 7 years ago in the Vacaville area. Not many silver turbo's around.

Swapped 1st Gen 4g63t and I need to redo the Intercooler + figure out which vacuum lines goes to where. There are about 5 that I found that were disconnected and plugged.

I finally had some time to wrench on this car. Since the turbo needs attention, I found a nice 14b so I started wrenching.

I wanted to verify if it's truly a 4g63 motor since the valve cover says "2000". I looked at the head and it says 1.6 so I'm thinking it may be a bastard motor. So after removing the xmani and turbo, I finally verified it is a 4g61 not a 4g63.

Am I disappointed? A little bit but I'm looking at it at the bright side to where I don't have to deal with CA smog with a 2.0 motor.

I guess I will get a slightly better gas mileage with a 1.6 and I am ok with that.

People put the 4g63 valve covers on them all the time, because it's the exact same valve cover.
