Hey my name is Adam. I'm live in south eastern mass and i just bought an 89 mirage turbo. It is my first turbo project, and i'm pretty excited about it. I did have a few questions though...

How rare is this car? Is it something i should keep near stock or is it ok to hack into it.

How much boost can this little 11b handle? previous owner has it at 22 psi :o I do have a boost controller waiting to be installed to remedy this though.

Are there any have to have modifacations for the engines safety? I know i read about an upgraded fuel pump, what about oiling systems or anything else?

The owner of the car used to visit here. His SN was tacoshell 4. The car is stock except a
2.0 head, SS header, and i belive it has the 2.0 cams as well.

I'll be around for a while and look forward to gaining some knowledge from the site and hopefully maybe meeting a few members :partyman:

The quickest safety mod that I can think of is to turn the boost down to 12 psi. Are you serious and don't know how rare these cars were??? There is a lot of info here, and a search button to find it. Welcome to the site!

I'm aware there were only 1500 mirage/colts produced in 89 but they seem to be so abundent on the site it threw me off. How many 89 4g61t mirages are left?

Impossible to say how many are left. Most people swap 4g63's into them because it's a direct bolt-in. There are also a lot of people on the site who have base-model cars that they've done motor swaps with. They made tons of base model cars from 89-92, but the turbo cars were only made in '89.
