I have just purchased a nice colt gt turbo. I am not new to turbocharged vehicles, i have been messing with Merkurs,Tbird turbocoupes and i have had a couple SVO mustangs and a turbo pinto. I usually steer away from frontwheel drive cars, but i seen this and had to have it!

The interior is just as clean as the exterior. I purchased it from the original owner. The car does have a slight problem tho!
It has a broken timing belt, and from what i have read on here that means bent valves. I have not had a chance to tear into it yet,but i will keep you posted.
Oh and i did not steal this car,i actually paid $800.00 for it. Seems like a lot for a car with a broken engine but what can i say! I like it
Now i am going to do a search on here to see if you have a step by step cylinder head removal. I am a seasoned mechanic and i am sure i can do it, somtimes its a good idea to study up a bit before hand.
you have a great site

Very clean ride, I would say $800 was a steal. Shouldn't cost too much to get it going.

Great find, and welcome to the forum. If it still has the 1.6 turbo (4G61T), it's actually easier to change the belt than a 2.0. The 1.6 doesn't have balance shafts to sync up.

Since you probably have bent valves, this might be a good time to weigh your options on doing a 2.0 swap. I know some purists on here will probably flame me for that, but if you have connections you might be able to get a used 2.0T for close to what it will cost for gaskets and machine work. That swap would yield a 25% increase in HP over the 1.6 just running it stock.

It's not worth fixing. You should sell it. How does $900 sound?

Super clean car and don't listen to those nay sayers, either rebuild the head or get 1.8L head out of Hyundai and drop it on.

I think i would like to put on the Hyundai cylinder head. What year Hyundai and model would i be looking for?Seems if it has larger ports why would one waste his time with the stock head. I already purchased a stainless header from an eclipse at one of our local wrecking yards. I noticed it has a t3 flange and does not leave room for the stock radiator.
Guess i will get the old head off before i get ahead of myself.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it is the 4g67 out of a 91-95 Hyundai Elantra.

awesome find. if you have any questions about the car or are just looking for that little helpful hint feel free to pm me. i currently have a 89 summit 4 door with a 4g63t and am very familiar with the 4g63t engine as well as the 4g61. i just finished the timing and valve replacement on my 89 summit. not too hard to do as long as you have the right tools.
And i only live about 45 mins from you.

Welcome to the site.

Very Nice Find. I too have a history of 2.3L turbo power. I had an 85 XR4Ti with a tbird top mount and t3/t4 with a t-5wc swap and big vam. Sold it last year though
