I've been lurking on these forums for quite a while, never posted, just doing some research on my swap project. Anyways, I picked up a '91 Mirage for free, and it's probably the fourth car that I have owned. It has 172k miles, and is currently my daily driver, until I finally purchase a second car so I can put this CSM under surgery.

The turbo motor I picked up for $250 out of a 1990 Talon TSi.

I have a lot left to do with her. The block is currently in the machine shop, and the head has already been through the machine shop. Can't wait to get her all done :D

Looks to be in great condition for being free! Got any more pics of the body/interior?

I don't have any pics at the moment, but I could get some more later tonight or tomorrow. There was one big dent on the driver side fender so I'll look at getting that replaced. And the interior was almost completely stripped, no headliner, no carpet, no driver door panel, but everything else is still there, in so-so condition. I plan on getting all that redone though.

That turbo bought off Ebay - it looks suspiciously like Chinabay stuff. What serial numbers or markings does it have? Could you get some pics of it? I'm hoping this isn't the case, but Chinabay stuff is passed off low buck these days and may seem like a deal at the time ....

It probably is chinabay stuff. A friend of mine bought it off eBay, then I took it off his hands because he found a used mitsu 20G instead. The serial number on it is NP08010052, and it shows DSM EVO III TD05 16G.

That sir, must be Chinabay stuff then, because Mitsu doesn't write DSM and EVO on their turbos, they just use #'s IIRC.
I wish you the best of luck, because if the turbo takes a dump, it sends it's waste through the motor depending upon what part goes. I'm painting a bad picture because it will lead to a premature life span when compared to a proper genuine MHI turbo and housing.

Oh yea I don't plan on using this turbo, only needing it to get things bolted up quicker. Like I said, just took it off my friends hands. Now where would be the most reliable place to get the 16G? A co-worker of mine suggested going through Road Race.

Ziggy at RTM Racing, and he's in St. Catherine's Ontario - near Niagara Falls. He may have just shown up as a vendor here at our site, but itr should have been much sooner, as he keeps the DSM guys at Club DSM Canada VERY VERY happy with incredible, honest service. I noticed you posted Vancouver Washington, so I assume you would pay customs, but you would be supporting a great asset to the community. Give him a shout and check out his post in the Vendors section.

If you prefer shipping from the boys at Road Race Engineering, that is a plus in your favour because of cost, but I'm going to have to dote on our vendors that are in good standing, as they help us out too. No kickbacks or anything, it just helps our small little community to grow a little more.

Chris @ MAPerformance. He's the guy I setup the evoIII 16g groupbuy with back in march. Reminds me, I gotta talk to him about becoming a vendor here. 99% of the time he'll beat ANY price out there.

Thanks Slobra! I'm really excited to start piecing it all together!

I stopped by the machine shop this afternoon to check on the block, and looks like I have to get it bored out. I kinda was hoping I didn't have to, but knew that I would most likely have to. I ordered some factory 2G pistons .020" over. Now even more of a wait, but good things come to those who are patient.

Would you be interested in selling me the grill?

Not interested in selling the grill right now, but maybe, just maybe, I will be later. I ordered some .020" over pistons, and the block is being bored out at the machine shop. It's been sitting there for about 2 weeks now, and I'm getting really really anxious and want my block back. It may take longer to finish the project now because I found out I have a kid on the way so I gotta start buying diapers now.
