Oh yeah, I also want to point out that there were several things with my swap that didn't go as planned.

I don't know where I heard it, but I swear I remember seeing that GVR4 motors were a direct swap, electronics-wise, with 4G61T cars. That's definitely not the case. The CAS has a completely different connector, so you need to use the Mirage one. The O2 sensor is two wire, so you need to use the Mirage one (which is 4). As stated earlier, the coil pack has a totally different connector, so again, it's easier to use the Mirage one. I also needed to cut the TPS connector off the Galant harness, and splice it onto the Mirage TPS's harness. Also, the igniter is totally different, so you have to use the Mirage one. The ECU was completely plug-and-play though, which was nice. I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

I totally came into this swap thinking it was going to be way easier than a 240SX/SR20DET swap (which I've done 5 of). It's pretty similar, but I just ended up REALLY taking my time, and replacing a lot of things on this motor that I don't usually do on SR swaps (but probably should). I mean, this motor has 5 stinkin belts! (timing, BS, and 3 acc). But I think in the long run, I'll be really glad that I went a little OCD on the seal replacements (front main, rear main, etc, etc, etc). I also put anti-seize on almost every bolt, cleaned the crap out of a lot of stuff, and tried to make every modification as bomb-proof as possible...without dropping a lot of $$$$ (I used scrap metal to make at least 3 different brackets for various things along the way).

Anyway, thanks for reading! I'm going to be driving the car to Tampa tomorrow, which will be almost a 500mi trip! YIKES. Hopefully everything will hold up!

Just fixed the blinkers by reinstalling the front blinker harness and ziptie-ing the blinkers in temporary homes in the G20 bumper fog light holes.

The car made it to Tampa! Almost 500 miles!

It seems to run a little hot though. I don't know if now the GVR4 ecu/coolant temp sensor makes the temp gauge act as a "true" gauge or what, because it seems to fluctuate a lot (not bouncing around or anything, just a lot more responsive to driving speed/condition). I don't think my 180deg temp sensor-switched fan controller was coming on soon enough, so I just wired the fans to come on all the time. I did that last night, so we'll see if it helps keep things under control.

I also could use a tune. And I probably should set the timing one of these days! That and get the A/C working are the next items on my agenda.

Using that radiator you will run a little hotter, esp on long trips. I wired my fan to stay on continually. A 160* thermostat helps somewhat too. Never saw temps over 210* in 100* weather.

Awesome, what thermostat will work? I haven't been able to find one anywhere that works with the Mirage/GVR4.

I couldn't get the small radiator to cool for me either so I ended up putting in the audi A100 one. I've read that plenty of people are running the smaller radiator with zero issues though.

I got a 165 degree t-stat from advance auto parts. Just tell them its for a 91 Eclipse GSX.

OK, nobody local had a 160deg t-stat, but I happened to find a 180 for really cheap, so just to make sure, I picked it up and put it in. Pretty sure the old 180 that was in it was working though.

I also finally set my timing....which was at 12deg! I set it back to 5.

BUT, the car is still running hot. So after doing some research, I noticed that people were mentioning that in order to use a Civic rad, you need a fan that blows about 1200CFM. Well, I figured the fan I paid $40 for at Autozone would have met that requirement. WRONG! I got and their site and found the fan I got...and it says that piece of crap only blows 650CFM! WTF?!!

So now I need to just order a better fan. While I find it hard to believe a weak fan would cause high temps on the highway, at this point, I'm just hoping to make the situation a little less shitty. As it is, I'm currently 500mi from my garage, living in a hotel. I'm about 1.5hrs from my bro's house, and I can work on my car there, but I'm really getting sick of this! It really sucks to have to drive with the heat on for 1.5hours, so my car doesn't overheat. Plus, I'm pretty broke, so I dunno where I'm even gonna get the $$ for a new fan (which makes pissing away $40 on an inferior one even more frustrating).

Anyway, hopefully I'll have this crap sorted out soon, and I'll be able to get the A/C charged and working.

hope you get this sorted out soon, how much would a 1200cfm fan cost and who makes these, i want to upgrade mine too. At least you still have a working a/c, my ac system is not even there anymore and no heat for me also ;(

You're right...it's hard to believe the car is overheating as it is. Are you gonna run that bigger fan all the time so it doesn't overheat, or do you think that something else is going on?

At first, I'm going to try running the fan all the time. If that fixes the problem, then I'll hook up the 180deg electric switch to the fan relay, and only have the fans come on when it warms up. but seeing as I now live in Tampa, I really don't see a time where the car won't warm up quickly, even with the fans on.

I'm tempted to try to run both the shitty 650CFM Autozone fan, and the new 1200CFM one....one pushing and one pulling. I'm just not sure if the relay I have can handle the load of 3 fans (I still have the OEM A/C fan hooked up). I should get a second relay use it solely for the new fan.

Anyway, I'll have a chance to install the new fan this weekend. I'll definitely post up after I've done that...hopefully with positive results.
