| Post subject: | [DIE STI] C73A CYBORG SEDAN 4G63T |
I'd like to introduce myself- my name is Andre and i'm a New Zealander living in Melbourne, Australia. Been here 5 years now. Been lurking around the site for a while now, so thought i'd do an intro thread. I've been driving a Mitsubishi for about 10 years- which have ALL been built between 1988 and 1994. I've had 2x 4G93T CD5A GSR lancers, a CD5W Libero GT, 2x E39A VR4, N23W RVR and now i'm on my 3rd C73A Cyborg Sedan. This has been my main project for the last 2 years- its been going slower than expected (I've been sidetracked with other mitsi's) but it seems to be coming together slowly, but surely. Its going to be a street/strip monster and still still currently registered. This is what it looked like the day I picked it up: ![]() And after I lowered it and cleaned it up: ![]() For $4000 it was pretty much a bargain. There's probably no more than 10 of these cars in Australia!! It's supposed to have done 65,000 kms (yeah right My goals for this car have changed somewhat since I picked her up. I was originally going to get a VR4 4G63T I had lying around rebuilt, and thrown in with my GT3071R from my old VR4. The plans have gotten alot bigger and the budget has blown out something chronic, but hey- thats cars for you, and this will be the only car like this I will get to own in my life. It took me around 12 months just to source all the engine internal parts. Here's a quick rundown: 2.0 4G63T JE pistons Carrillo rods Eagle crank Kiggly main cap girdle Cometic gasket ARP studs all round ACL bearings Ferrea 1mm over valves Ferrea dual valve springs Ferrea guides, locks, seals HKS 280/280 Fluidampr pulley HKS timing belt BLE solid tensioner The motor has now been finished, and I have accumulated almost all of the parts I need so that the car can be put together for a dummyfit. I've got an Autronic SM2 with auto tune, large SX fuel setup, HKS fuel rail, G-Reddy Type R and a Garrett GT4088R .95 A/R. This is what the car looks like now: ![]() ![]() We dummyfitted an engine so that an exhaust manifold and intercooler piping can be fabricated. Hopefully over the next few months the car will then be sent away for a rollcage and a panel and paint. I have a facelift cyborg kit that will be fitted also. I have big plans for this thing, so will make sure I keep you guys updated- fingers crossed the car will be running by the end of next year. dre ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

this thing will demolish all scoobies on the road Should have the power for a 9- the only thing ill be having issues with is traction! Quote: i love it, i need those sideskirts and that bumper
I'm actually ditching those sideskirts- I imported a facelift Cyborg bodykit from New Zealand, consisting of 3-piece side skirts, and door panels- very much similar to the setup on GVR4's. This is what it'll look like (but white) with the plastic rear bumper and facelift kit: ![]() ![]() ![]() once there's some progress, i'll keep you guys updated for sure dre |

Have you guys used that BLE solid tensioner? I know that having your tenioner too tight with no movement can eat up your oil pump so It would only make sense that a solid tensioner would do the same thing. |

Been a long while between updates. Progress has been moving slowly- i've been out of work most of the summer (winter for you guys) but things are now starting to pick up, and i'm now working fulltime again and got some spare cash together to blow on my car! I got an intake manifold sent from Performance Metalworks in Auckland, New Zealand (http://www.pmw.co.nz) ![]() ![]() ![]() The screens are out of the shell, and next week or the week after, the car is being transported to Meridian Motorsport for an ADRA 9 second spec roll cage, plus a couple of extra bars. Check out the pics of OFFON-4's black lancer that they also did: http://www.mmsport.com.au/evo_david_gallery.php To round up the update, I am expecting my exhaust manifold setup to be sent from the states sometime this week. The kit, which consists of top mount T4 manifold, 3.5" dump pipe, 2x 38mm V-band TiAL wastegates, 2x screamer pipes, gaskets and lines cost more than what the car did, and the exchange rate was ridiculous, but in the long run I think that it was worth choosing shearer fabrications to fabricate the setup. They are well known in the DSM scene for providing top quality work as most of you will already know. I also decided to get it ceramic coated this colour: ![]() Here's some more pics: ![]()
