I am restoring a C53A to race it in Jamaica (Circuit). I need help with suspension. It currently has in a 1996 Mitsubishi Evolution III (4G63T engine with 264 HKS Cams, Port and Polished Head, 20G Turbo and other works but my main probelm is not power but its getting this car to handle how it should.

I was told that I could buy 93-96 Front strut brace and 2G eclipse rear brace, with DSS Rear Sway with GC Coilovers and Konis Yellow Suspension but honestly I need to know if this is the best suspension available for this car, cause I want to be able to dive into corners at extremely high speeds. My other question is what ps for the coilovers should i get? That is if there is no other choices but the GC Coilovers? Is 550 ps for the front and 500ps for the rear a good choice? I have no clue.....

Thanks in advance :D

Diving into corners is relative at best, due to solid axle design. I'm sure some guys here can offer more advice on suspension tuning but beyond stiffening and suspension, the solid rear axle and front struts do nothing to keep the car planted the way other "more expensive" designed suspension systems would. That is it in a nutshell, but you can get alot out of the car if you are determined.

Polyurethane bushings everywhere you can, front+rear strut bars, coilovers, turbo sway bar. Wish I could remember what the strut bar years/models were. There's a lilevo post somewhere that had a link to one on ebay and I used that. :-?

Front - 93-96 Mirage Strut tower bar, runs around $15.00
Rear - 2G Strut tower bar

Along with Hypercoils, Koni Yellows, independent rear suspension with all polyurethane bushings, awd, and both those strut tower bars, the car reminds me of a few EVOs I've driven. The car is super stiff with the strut tower bars and almost "hops" around corners because there is so little flex.

This is without the rear sway bar installed. Can't wait to install some front poly control arm and sway bar bushings.

I used to own a 1996 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III. If it handles like that then I will be happy. My Evolution was 12 sec road/drag car... It had on GAB suspension... This cyborg that I am setting up is a full race car... so I want the handling to be close or better... Thanks for the help

Update on to my 2nd Mirage Cyborg same year. Only thing different is that this one is Silver and my first one was Blue. I sold that first Cyborg shell to my mechanic and bought this one below.

It currently has in an Evolution 3 Engine(2.0 litre), Evo 3 Turbo and Evo 3 RS LSD AWD Gearbox, Evo 3 Ecu(Eprom) that is chipped, HKS Wastegate, HKS BOV, Evo 8 Intercooler, 8 lb flywheel,ACT 2100 Setup and a few more goodies.

What did you have to do to swap an EVO III engine into this car? They are not a direct bolt-in by any means. Got any pics of the engine bay?

I don't have the car right now as it gone into the shop to be fully tear down to be built up again but putting in an Evolution 3 Engine is the same as dropping in a 95-99 7 Bolt Eclipse GST/GSX Engine along with Gearbox. The only thing I think we fabrication was for 2 engine mounts. Moved the battery to the trunk and few other minor adjustments. I am sure you see many persons in the US running the Eclipses GST/GSX setup and the Evolution 3 is only a slightly modified version of those.

In Jamaica here everyone all the Cyborg owners have moved to 2.0litre turbo funnily only 6 came to Jamaica and only 4 are still around. This is my 2nd one.

Well, I guess the EVO motors are easier to come by than a 1g DSM motor. If it were a 1g DSM motor there would be no fabrication. The EVO stuff is the same as the 2g Eclipse stuff, yeah.

The Evo 3 block is closer to the 1G 93-94 7 bolt Block but the cylinder head is closer to the 2G eclipse

No it isn't. The 1g 7-bolt block is the same as a 6-bolt block mounting wise, and shares nothing in common with a 2g 7-bolt block. You can't bolt an EVO 3 motor into any 90-94 DSM.

I said the block as in the raw Engine Block(not mounting positions) as in block not attached etc... I already explained the mounting was different.
