Just got back from a road trip Kansas City to just South Of Dallas Tx and back. Round trip The 1992 little blue colt 4 speed that I just got back on the road ran the trip with an AVG of 43 MPG 1126 miles took 26.12 gallons of gas, Wooo Hoooo Hows that for a non hybird! LMAO. Mind you I didnt need my Air cond running LMAO. Had a fast trip there and back to pick up a VW Jetta diesel that only ran 41 back home! My brother was sick said that just wasnt right my little colt stomping his jetta and diesel costing .40 cents a gallon more than gas. It was so funny!!!

:) Next time I feel better and have the energy I plan on servicing it and doing a complete synthic oil and lube change including the wheel bearings, transmission and all. I am hoping to get it up another 2 or 3 miles per gallon! LOL It would be a blast if I could get it up to 50! That would show people that hybrids are nice but real expensive! Maybe I can do a tire and wheel upgrades, maybe a larger exhaust and a header.

If anyone has a suggestion as to what synthic oils, greases brands and grades, tire and wheel makes and sizes please let me know. Any other suggestions would be nice.

Wierd that the 4 speed has better mileage than the 5 speed. Definately change to synthetic oil, could even go 0w-40 if you were really trying to get mileage. Over pressurize your tires by 5 or so psi, less contact patch=less friction. Synthetics in the gear box, lube the suspension. If you're really into it, synthetic grease in the wheel bearings and axles. Check your brakes to make sure they're not dragging on the rotors while you're driving, even a little bit.

I have talked to a several of people that tell me the same thing that the 4-speeds out do the 5-speeds but thats hard to understand in my simple mind. I would love to put a 5-speed in mine. I run my timming at 8 tdc and 5-30 castro Synthetic oil, driving habits is a huge thing I always try and guess the stop light so that I dont stop and take off slower and allow more space between the cars infront of you allowing more stoping space for slowing down. Always leave your self an out. so that you dont have to brake out! LOL If you get my drift.
