Hey Ya'll

Just wanted to write a quick note to show you guys what Im up to now. I sold the mirage to pay off some bills and get the "Man" off my back and now Im free and can start working on my 76' chevy stepside that I've had since 1992. The truck has been thru a frame off and a few interior changes since then. Ive raced the truck while in highschool in the mid 90's and then turned it into a cruiser in the year 1999 when I left college. Due to health reasons the truck has been in storage for the past 5 years. It was stored inside out of the elements and I think thats why it is in such good shape. The truck is supposed to be moved this weekend to a friends house where we will be narrowing the frame and installing my chassis works kit that I have had since 01'. I have the 36" ladder bars with the street heim joints that have the poly inserts. I have the QA1 double adjustable coilovers with the 2500 pound springs. I also have the steel tubs that go in the bed. This truck already has a belltech 5" drop, but after it is set up with the coilovers , I plan on putting on shockwave air bags all the way around so I can put it on the ground. The enclosed pics show the new 15x14 welds that I got today and the Mickey Thompson 33x19.50 sportsman pro's. I already have welds on it, so I wont have to change the front wheels. I redid the entire front end 2 years ago which I shaved the firewall, put on a new steering box and master cylinder and new bushings. I also stripped the frame and painted it. Everything is pretty much new just dusty from sitting. As soon as the rear is cut, I will be calling strange to get the 35 spline axles, 4.56 gears and the tru-trac limited slip/locker diff. You guys know csm and dsms, I know chevy!! :P

I will post more pics as the build goes together and we do more work on the truck. In the day light, I will take more pics of the interior.

Those aren't wide rims, those are cable reels. 8) Looks great, I'm kinda partial to older BB type cars/trucks too, but priorities have changed in that regard.

Looks like a fun project. I have always wanted that era chevy sb to fix up, ran across an 82 sb c10 last weekend, but I passed it up. I need to finish other projects first :P If I ever do build one, I would like to twin tubocharge it

My buddy pulled the engine out of a TGN and threw it in his S10 its quite the burnout machine. Not what I'd want but cool none the less.

very cool bosco! Also partial to the older chev's...especially the C10's, and Apaches. Please tell us you've got a 700R4 in your plans with that 4.56 gear. 8) Keep posting updates, you have my attention...

Looks interesting. Question though, why such a stiff rear spring? What motor is in it?

Actually, the rear springs are far from stiff. 3 Leafs had been removed from the pack and that with the drop shackles, brought the rear down 5 inches. You cant see from the pics but they are bent into an s-shape vertically from racing the truck over the years on full slicks. The truck was suppossed to leave my garage 2 weeks ago, but the guy who is doing the frame work bought his son a car and it is in the trucks space until after the holiday so he can do the body work. I am accruing parts here and there for the transformation. I will keep you guys updated.
By the way, my 01' lowered silverado is for sale. I will post the info here this evening if I can get a few mins to write it up.

So it has coilovers and leaf springs? I know nothing about racing trucks so this is interesting to me, but I do know about racing muscle cars with leaf springs, and I can tell you, putting any stockish suspension car up against a Nova with leafsprings sucks. Stock rear suspension hooks and launches like a SOB on a small tire, the 250 shot probably helped him too. Keep us updated cause now you got my attention.

Its got leafs now, but when the frame is cut and moved in, it will have coilovers .
