Going in a 3G CSM? Considered the 4G shifter? |

I haven't actually. I wanted to put it on my work bench and figure out a way to make a true short shifter out of it and incorporate shift stops on it. Kind of like the dsm shifters that some vendors used to make years ago. I have a dogbox racing shifter in my talon so I'm going to sit them side by side and see what I can do. I have an endless supply of metal and a welder so I'm sure I can make something up. I know there are threads on it but what's the deal with the 4g shifter? If I remember correctly they accept after market short throw arms and are bolt in deals right? |

PM Natedog, I grabbed him a 4g shifter last year and he put it in his 3g. I can grab a 4g one too, same price. |

Not trying to clog up the thread but you could do this with a 4g base and 1g DSM shifter http://www.4g61t.org/forum/viewtopic.ph ... er#p271617 |

My two cents thrown in because I used a 4G shifter that 89Mirageman shipped me. Shorter throws and reduces stress on my wrist - occupational hazard from the impact guns/air hammers ... etc. I managed to swap it all in with no extra parts needed. I didn't order any rebuild parts for it yet, but it is tighter than the stock shifter. Shifts are quite a bit shorter and you don't lose height on the shifter head to steering wheel distance. Short shifters should only have a place if the shifter base is moved up to make up for the hand placement. You get where I am going with this. Oh, that valance support is a great idea. PM "curtis" at galantvr4.org, as he does the surrounds, or as you mentioned you are handy. Food for thought. This is the single cheapest upgrade up can do to a Colt short of a car with a weaker front sway bar, changing to the turbo bar setup. |
