SOLD...finally!

Image

It's time to let go of this so I can finish the rest of my projects, and because I'm prepping for a move here in a few months. I've owned this car for about 6 years now. It is a true original 1989 Colt GT. The car is located in Leesburg, VA about 50 miles northwest of Washington, DC.

Black 1989 Dodge Colt GT
VIN: JB3CU54Z3KU114451
Chassis Mileage: 144, 412
Engine Mileage: 2xx
Price: $2900

Recently overhauled 4G63T:
  • Block cleaned and checked by machine shop (no line bore needed)
    ACL main and rod bearings
Reused stock 6 bolt big rods and pistons
    Hastings piston rings
    Viton valve stem seals
    OEM head gasket
ARP head studs (torqued in 3 stages to 90 ft/lbs)
    3g lifters
Head cleaned and checked by machine shop (no milling required)
    OEM gaskets all around
    Balance shaft eliminated
OEM timing belt and timing components
    Water pump
Electronics
  • DSMLink V2 in original 89 GT EPROM ECU (I work in same city where Dave and Tom from DSMLink have their shop so all my ECUs get tested)
Autometer Boost and Water Temp (water temp not hooked up)
AEM Wideband O2 with gauge A-pillar mounted
Turbo and Exhaust
  • EVO3 16g @ 20psi via manual boost controller
    EVO3 O2 housing
    EVO3 Exhaust manifold
3" turbo back exhaust with high flow cat
Intake/Intercooler
  • Spearco FMIC
    Aluminum custom J-pipe
1g DSM BOV with Dodge mod
    2.5" custom aluminum intercooler piping
GM MAFT with 3" MAS in blow-through setup (settings zeroed out due to DSMLink)
Cooling
  • Newer radiator
    New water pump
    Newer hoses
    High flow fan
Fuel
  • Walbro 190 fuel pump
FIC 750cc injectors with all new seals
Clutch and Drivetrain
  • KM210 5 speed manual (shifts fine without any issues, I am assuming it has same mileage as chassis but cannot be certain)
Stock 6 bolt FWD flywheel resurfaced
    ACT 2600 with street disc
Wheels, Tires, Suspension
  • 15" no name lightweight wheels
Falken Azenis tires with good tread left
KYB AGX shocks all around (unknown mileage in rear, brand new up front)
    1g DSM stock rear springs
Brand new 1g DSM ebay front lowering springs
I've also recently replaced all of the following:
  • Front inner tie rods and boots
    Front outer tie rods
    Front sway bar end links
    Front ball joints
    Front shocks/springs (as mentioned previously)
    Front wheel bearings and seals
    Front brake rotors and pads
It also has stainless steel brake lines all around. The car badly needs an alignment as it sits and as such I would highly recommend towing this home. Suspension is very tight with all the new parts. It definitely needs WOT tuning, but it idles pretty stable and drives fine. The stock axles had torn boots when I bought it. I cleaned the joints, packed them with grease, and added new boots, but one of them is clicking when turning so I wasn't able to save it in time. It still drives fine but this will eventually need replacement. It needs a little TLC to make this a really nice C53A. It also apparently has some somewhat rare OEM add-ons such as mudflaps all around, rear speaker covers, and mint rear cargo cover.

Some of the not-so-good items:
  • Cracked front windshield
    Typical roof bubbling
Driver side fender clear is pealing and has a dent (cosmetic, and frame not affected)
Driver side headlight intermittently rattles at idle
Mechanical noise can be heard at idle (perhaps a pulley, but not 100% sure)
    Missing center console
One of the CV joints is clicking
Some scratches and dings you'd expect for the age
It does have a non-cracked gauge cluster bezel and the interior is in really good shape. The headliner is near mint, rear seats are excellent, and driver seats are in relatively good condition with a few stitch tears to be expected. It has an old-school JVC radio that I don't even use, not even sure I've actually ever tried to turn it on come to think of it. I will see if it does actually work this weekend when I give the car a once over. The car also comes with a stock uncut GT bumper that was removed by the previous owner for a base C52A bumper since it needed to be cut for the FMIC. The body also has all the original sticker emblems from the factory such as "DOHC TURBO" on each of the doors and "IMPORTED FOR DODGE" on the right rear above the bumper. I do have receipts for some of the parts that have been replaced but not everything. The car also comes with original owner's manual and some other dealer manuals that may or may not be rare and interesting to some members.

I bought the car with the blemishes aforementioned and with a terribly leaky motor barely tuned with an AFC for $2700 several years ago. I cleaned it up, performed the swap, but I need to reduce my car footprint so it's time to go. Plus I just don't drive it that often anymore. I did put a decent amount of money into cleaning up the intercooler setup, rebuilding the front steering/suspension, and overhauling the motor. Based on the fact that it's a true C53A, swapped 4G63T, in decent condition aside from the front driver fender (easy replacement), but does have some negative things, I'd like to get $2900.

I've included a link to my photobucket with several pictures and videos of the car idling. As an added bonus, I'll throw in a stock 1g 7 bolt block to the buyer if they're interested for free along with some other extras I don't have a need for. Thanks for the space and for checking out my listing.

Price drop to $3000 for a nice original GT that needs a little TLC. Save me from parting this out.

I paid $2700 for the car several years ago in rough mechanical shape and have put a lot of time and new parts into this.

Yeah, that's a damn good price IMO. I was noticing how car poor I was yesterday, Six cars for 1 man, one more and I'll have one to work on every day of the week! So I better not! :)

How many csm's do you have? Will this one put you out of the hobby when it sells?

Chris,

I'm not too far off of Nate's total when it comes to total cars. I have a total of 3 Colts, 1 1g Talon TSi, and a mk1 Audi TT that is my daily. I have one more that I'm finishing up that will be for sale in a month or so. It's a 90 Plymouth GL also with a 4g63t swap and F5M33. That will officially put me out of CSMs, but only for the time being. I need to simply reduce my car footprint for the next year or so as my parents are having to sell their home. I won't have the space while I'm in an apartment before I buy a place in the Spring. I'm keen on finding an AWD roller that's been cleanly swapped with the 1g rear subframe/differential. I had big plans for Craig's Cataplt but honestly grew out of the whole drag scene and couldn't find the time to devote to it. I'd much prefer the 1g AWD rear drivetrain for a more versatile car. I'm saving a lot of the high quality parts I was stashing for the 90 GL and Cataplt for a future build. I'll still be around, but won't be able to bug you for at least a year about junk yard runs for random parts. :D
