^^^ What 89Mirageman says.

Also, be sure the shifter will engage all gears with little fuss, when the engine is not rotating. If you cannot engage certain sets of gears in this state, then you would have lever arm adjustment issues.

Hrmmm...so I watched the video but that's a DSM shifter and I have a colt shifter with DSM linkages. With the car off it shifts through all the gears fine. And going 1>2>3>4>5 its smooth no issues. The only issues are going 3>2>1 if I'm going any more than 5 or 10 mph.

I'd get a set of colt/mirage shifter arms and brackets for the dsm trans and swap them out. It does require welding on the top one but you can drill a hole and use a bolt/locknut instead.

If you can do get the 89(?) cables that are adjustable.

I have a 91 with shifter cables without the turnbuckle and have issues down-shifting into 1st too unless I'm almost stopped. I attribute that as a Mitsubishi feature.

The cables are adjustable and it goes into gear just fine the way it is. I believe the synchros are already bad from before I got the car and probably before Karl got the parts car. I am guessing the last bit because he only drove the car once or twice when he did the swap. I do remember him saying the he used the DSM transmission, the DSM shifter arms, the DSM shifter linkages, and Colt shifter. With the car off or running but not moving the car changes gear without issue what so ever. The only issue arises when downshifting it grinds second and first if you are going more than 5 or 10 mph for second gear, and moving at all for first gear.

I drained and added fluid (seemed low when I drained) and fluid was leaking pretty bad afterwards. It looks like it is coming from the input shaft. It is somehow making it all the way to the passenger side wheel though which I am not sure how. I am trying to find a new trans at the moment. I think I found one about an hour away says it was rebuilt for 500hp by previous owner and has less than 7k miles...so I will see how that goes...I also managed to lose the BISS screw while driving...that was fun. Had to jam a wire nut in the hole and keep it out of boost until I got home. Thankfully was only couple miles away.

Oh I also started clay barring the car to try and pretty up the paint a little...

That was after doing only a square foot. It is starting to look a lot better though. I had to do the hood 4 times to get it close to smooth.

I still think I would swap in a set of csm shift levers and cable bracket before pulling the trans. I've never heard of anybody getting by using the csm shifter and cables with the dsm trans and levers. It could be off just enough to grind on the downshift.

It is still leaking tranny fluid like a siv. And I think no one swapped in dsm linkages because they could get away with the csm linkages that were adjustable by putting in a longer turnbuckle with dsm levers.

This is the thread I am talking about. http://www.4g61t.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=11769 Using DSM trans, the levers from the trans, and colt shifter and adjustable linkage(from a colt). Only thing modified was the one linkage with a lengthened turnbuckle.

Man, I was a newbie when that thread was made  .

Sorry I misunderstood and didn't know you were using the turnbuckle for adjustment. I thought you were just using the little bit of adjustment in the shift cables.

Thats stock Turbo Mirage brakes. The calipers are the same as rear DSM ones. Its the bracket that makes them special, and work!

Sweet so they should bolt right on then. There is also a set up hubs it looked like with lugs in it. Is that something that is needed too?

Yes, you need the hubs too. On the base models the hub is part of the brake drum so it can't be used.

Ah nice! mine aren't nice and new looking like those though. I assume there is bearings inside that I should probably replace while they are off though? Are they pressed in or anything?
