I was definitely going to clean them up before I installed them. I will have to search around to see if I can identify them though. If they are GST axles they will work though? Right now the car has a one piece driver side axle which doesn't seem right at all...

You usually need Mirage/Colt Turbo axles from either the 1988 listing or the 1989 listings, as they are the same parts; intermediate and both outer cv axles. DSM axles, you will have to look through the various axle threads to find what you need, unless someone can chime in.

The proper and 100% fitment, is the original year and part for your car, whether or not you have the 1989 4g61 or 1990-1994 DSM 4g63 motor setup AND a FWD KM210 or F5M33 DSM FWD transmission.

If the rust can be dealth with properly, then great, but otherwise they should never see the light of day with regards to mating inside your center differential or outer hubs.

Consider some of the old chrome bumper removal chemicals, but it's serious stuff that definitely requires properly handling and knowledge plus PPE. (Personal protective equipment).

After searching I am pretty sure it is DSM axles and the only usable part would be the intermediate shaft...If I can get it cleaned up.

On another note. I didn't think of this until a few days ago when I realized I need to do an oil change on the colt. Now I was told the motor was out of a 90 GST. So that was the filter I bought for it and installed. Then I remembered that the car doesn't have an external oil to air style oil cooler. It has the coolant driven oil cooler. So I am assuming either the oil cooler was changed for some reason or all the wiring, sensors and ECU were changed. Would putting the 90 oil filter on that housing cause any problems?

You can use any oil filter from 90-99 dsm. I actually prefer the 2g style which is shorter and fatter, (if I remember correctly, don't quote me). But you are able to use any in that year frame.

Actually it was the 1g oil filter that was larger and no it won't cause you any issues. They came with the larger filter whether they had the oil cooler or the coolant cooled housings.

Oh ok good I just knew the book had listed a different filter for 90 than 91+ and I actually had to order the 90 when I was at AutoZone.

Spent the day installing my hood pins finally. Now I gotta paint the hood though. They just barely worked btw I had to thread the top nut all the way up pretty much.

I also found someone on here selling a Colt GT intermediate shaft so I snagged that up and when I get the money together I will order new left and right axles and know everything is right.

We run Mazda RX oil filters. Very tiny filters that allow for all kinds of clearance

So it has been a while since I have been able to do much with the car because of Christmas and what not. I am getting new axles and putting the wilwoods on though soon. Couple questions though...

1. Will my lancer OZ wheels clear the brakes?
2. What size bolts do I need for the half shaft to bolt to the block?
3. Which wheel bearings should I get? Rockauto has a bunch of listings of various sizes...

1. Maybe. Gvr4/2000GTX 15" clear.
2. Determine which vehicle your half shaft came from and make sure there are no "steps" which require AC bracketry or the little Mitsu spacer (JNZTuning.net) to be installed. I don't know if they are all the same length for both bolts. Get OEM Mitsu bolts with the proper unthreaded tip and shoulder to snugly fit the holes in the half shaft bracket.
3. I'm on lunch so can't do much more at the moment.

The half shaft came from a colt gt so it shouldn't have the step. Would I have to go to a Mitsubishi dealership for that kind of thing?

Would the bolt be the same for colt and DSM?
