I parted out my 2g last year and I was looking to start another project, I was looking for something not very popular on the scene, 4 door preferably, something that people wouldn't expect to see with a 4g63, well here's a short story about how I got this 94 Mitsubishi Galant GS:
I was chasing it since last year, first time I saw it a young guy was selling it for like $1500, I contact him to check it out but I noticed that it was in the need of piston rings soon, he didn't want to lower his price so I just passed. Few weeks later the car was now at my neighborhood (new owner), since I pass very often by where the car was I noticed they stopped using it after a few months, one day I stopped by and left a note telling them that I would like to buy it if they are willing to sell it, they never answer me back, one day the guy called me asking if I could get him a good 4g64 DOHC head and I told him about how hard is to get that head since the production was so limited in the US (I know he could get it rebuild but I guess he was looking for a quick replacement), again I ask him if he would like to sell it he said no
Well I guess he gave up and finally post it on CL last week for $1000, I sent him an offer that he couldn't refuse and here we go
Image
Why this Galant? Because I like them and even more this version since maybe is the rarest in the US
Image
The Car has 150k miles, paint is original and still in good shape, engine has no compression on cylinder #3 maybe a valve? who knows I find out later, anyway a 4g63 will be going here soon
Image
Some parts that I already have for the swap
Image
One of the first mods I made a 3g Eclipse Steering wheel
Image
Image
And Toyota Celica Seats

Fun Time!
Image
Image
Took the whole wiring harness to convert it to 2G DSM Turbo wiring harness
Image
Image
Upgrade to 97-99 FI Connectors
Image
I Wired the FI Resistor Box
Image
2G Turbo Capacitor
Image
Fuel Pressure Solenoid
Image
Waste Gate Solenoid
Image
The 94 Galant GS ECU has only 3 Connectors (2g Type, pretty much like EVO I-III ECU)
Image
In order to use a 2g ECU I had to add the extra ECU connector, then wire some pins and swap another ones to the right location for the 2g ECU
Image
Well this is it for now, I will post more updates later

I've seen a handful of those in the junkyard and it breaks my heart every time. It does make me feel a little better once I rob some parts from it though  .

Why not just turbo the dohc 4G64? Too much compression?

Also doesn't it just use a 2g turbo head? Either way I'm sure you didn't want to tell the previous owner that and he keep it and fix it for himself.

It's the only DOHC 2.4, well in the older configuration anyway. It has high compression pistons and oil squirters. I think it makes 160hp.

They were all single cam, except for the '94 Galant GS. I've never seen one in the wild. Pretty neat car, especially with a manual. Which trans is it?

:o Ooooooooo. Slap a 2g GSX rear subframe on that bad boy and AWD it!!! I wonder if it can be done? Shouldn't this have the 2g FWD rear subframe form the factory?

They are very similar to the 2g dsm's suspension wise and I believe it has the F5M31 trans, same as the SOHC 2.4's. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I can not conform nor deny transmission code. However when I 5 speed swapped my wifes 1997 galant using another 7g manual transmission, I used awd 2g 5speed axles and intermediate shaft. Over a year with no problem.

Yeah it is basically a 4 door 2g with 4 lug, so I'm pretty sure the 2g awd rear subframe would fit just in the same way they do with the spyders. Transmission is the same as single cams and that's the same kind of transmission I use on my Colt with equal length setup...

I'm not a big fan of the 2.4L even if this is a DOHC so I will be droping a 6 bolt with a 2g head, I'm still thinking what turbo should I run but will see...

Manual f5m31, I have seen only 3 in my life counting mine, the first was a black one in a junk yard and the second another white just like this, according with the autozone app the GS version was available only in a 5% of the 94s batch, this one came with cloth interior, electric windows, 8k tach with 6.5k red line, "speed sensitive steering", mud flaps, sun roof, rear disc brakes, rear sway bar, spoiler and a tiny bump on the hood just like the dsms but smaller in size (according to what I know that was standard in all 94s)...

I am 95% sure there have been a couple guys to AWD swap these. I have never seen one in person, but always check under the hood when I see one at the junkyard. There aren't many Mitsus out there from the '90s-00's that will surprise anyone anymore which is why I want one of these so bad. It is like the last undiscovered 4g powered car.
