doing a carb to efi conversion one of the most difficult parts is fuel pump. there are many different ways to accomplish this, but this method was completely free, and will work excellent,
awd talon gas tank was perfect fit, with the spare tire well tsken out. i gained 10 pounds, but also gained a ton of fuel capacity. this car will be street driven a lot, not a race car build.
mostly it was free.
it would have been way easier to just use an external pump in line and the stock gas tank, but i dont know how well it would work, and they are apparenty very loud,
and this was free, like, zero dollars

something very important i should mention
people laugh at this car! the neighborhood kids laugh every time they see me they say nice car and laugh hysterically at me. i was stopped at an intersection yesterday and some random teen boys were talking about it and smiling, i could tell he said something like "look at that loser"
this things sleeper potential is crazy
really kicking myself, i really should have not awd swapped my 93, should have done this instead and kept the 93 fwd

weighed in today 1930 lbs! no back seats but full awd talon tank full of fuel, so probably similar/same weight as before, it was 1930 before i started. i might pull the pass seat, 1/4 tank, pull both bumpers just for a track outing should/when i go. 2050ish race weight

Needs a wash and a wax real bad but I can't see anyone pointing and laughing about it.

id love to repaint it up all nice like, but that just cannot happen. you see it is so perfect as is. it looks like it came from a field, because it did. if i put effort into the appearance, it just makes it less sleeper. ran 14.7 1/4 99mph est on the g tech today. 10 psi still no intercooler. it pretty much has the perfect amount of power right now. of course we never settle especially when we know all i need is a fmic and boost controller to add another 100 hp

My question is why are there not more pictures?!? Was the 14.7 on those rubber band tires?

isnt it a thing of beauty? i got 13 lbs of weight reduction by removing the rear seatbelts, the horn, and mostly the rubber bumpers from the bumpers.
yes i did that 14.7 with these 155/80/13 winter tires. i have no intention of changing tires or wheels. its just so sleeper like this!
i suppose when if/when i bump up the power substantially i would be inclined to put slicks on the front for the track.
but i definately dont want to put nice wheels on it, just ruins the whole car. this thing is supposed to look really pathetic.

in the past that gtech has been pretty optimistic. i recall running 12.7 with it then at the track running 13.0. still it gives a pretty good idea

i made a speedometer view video of this thing with the 1.6, and another of it after both doing 80-140 pulls. i want to get it a bit faster before i post a vid on youtube though. and now my damn speedo cable broke.

just a few drivability mods. i might have gone a little overboard on the shifter, i had a spare one so i figured id have some fun with it. the stock dsm shifter is just a bit too far forward comfort wise. in the future i might consider moving the e brake back so i can move the shifter back, but probably wont cause i like having the stock plastic in it. it would be a lot more comfortable if it had a dsm console with armrest though.

this shifter makes it more fun to drive, i cut and rewelded it to shorten the throw, and lengthened the rod so its about the same throw as stock, and is very high now, like a big truck haha.
it does however make the whole setup a little more rubbery, it amplifies the stock shortcomings. i could build a much better one if i feel so inclined. if you custom made one with bearings instead of bushings you could make it have basically no slop. and of course i could do the typical mods, skateboard bushings,
i dont like the idea of having solid mounted shifter and skateboard bushings. why?
broken shift forks is why. i think thats why they have all the bushings. maybe helps with carpal tunnel as well

track opening day today, i decided to take this there just for fun, i was pretty confident what it would run, i figured it would be fun to see peoples reactions though

turns out the track is a lot more slippery than the roads! it was hopeless!
first pass wAs 16.1@95
second was 15.44@96
third was 15.2@95
third pass i short shifted 2nd and 3rd to keep the spinning down. yes it has those pizza cutter winter tires haha! 20 psi tire pressure
its not quite fast enough to have any reAl fun with it.
it would obviously be very cheap/easy to add another 100 hp and slicks, but i am happy with the car as is for now, time to play with my orher one

forget about the track, this thing was made for driving!
as much as i like the sleeper look, it needs more/better tire, better suspension to handle any more power.
maybe ill awd swap this one too. fwd is stupid

the more i think of it, who am i kidding of course i will awd swap this thing. its inevitable really. this is the project i should have been focusing on. im a little disgusted thinking about all the time ive put into my 93. at 2300 lbs it is a masterpiece, and i unfortunately will be harvesting its parts, im just sickened by this, but its whAt has to be done
