Decided to freshen up the interior by wrapping the ABC pillars and roof and rear deck lid in black and cleaning the interior and scrubbing all of the carpets. |

traded my bare 6 bolt G4CS and 88mm crank and spare head for a full 7bolt long block and head that needed rebuilt. I ripped it apart and inspected all. pistons and walls look excellent and the crank is great. upgrading to manley H-Beam rods and building the head. progress is slowed due to Xmas but will pick up soon. |

I'm glad that you were able to get all those parts off that car but honestly, what dumba$$ would junk a complete Evo 3? Also the 4g coupe door speaker grills will work on your door panels. The panels just have to be modded slightly. I used them on my 4g sedan and they looked great. |

In Japan it's just another car, and you get taxed incredibly harshly if you're driving an older car. This is why you see so many JDM engines with < 60k miles, because past a certain mileage point the taxes increase and they get rid of the cars. The people who are importing JDM cars under the 25-year rule are probably making a killing, because most of these cars sell for DIRT cheap over there. I've seen totally cherry FD RX7's go at an auction for like $3,000 USAnyway, that's off-topic. This is a cool project, Jesse. Excited to see it finished! |

True they get taxed on many things auto related. I've also heard they get taxed on the size of the vehicle (at years end) which is why they prefer ultra compacts. (Mitsubishi minica) I must say this conversion is coming along very nice. Props to you |

i guess the previous owner just beat the crap out of it and it wasn't running right, he had to leave the island and military can't leave without selling or getting rid of their cars. I guess a junkyard was the only place. Lucky for me. My first week in Iwakuni 3 years ago I was offered an Evo 4 GSR for $2000 cash!!! I didn't have the money and never got the chance again |
